JOB DESCRIPTION:

Primary Function

Conducts bioconjugation processes research to support assay development and transfer to manufacturing. Participates on cross functional project teams, provides technical review, and accurately communicates scientific observations.

Main Responsibilities

  • Executes experiments leading to the development and implementation of bioconjugation processes; applies analytical techniques. Analyzes data from multiple experiments, formulates conclusions and determines future experiments.

  • Integrates data and identifies critical process variables.

  • Documents experimental procedures and results according to established guidelines.

  • Facilitates process transfer and training at sites of manufacture.

  • Presents scientific observations at internal technology reviews.

  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system

Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system. Conducts experiments, accomplishes established milestones and summarizes data, interprets results and draws conclusions. Recommends options for other project approaches or experiments. Internal data presentations within R&D organization. Expertise and Problem Solving: Recognizes and resolves technical problems; evaluates options for complex experimental problems; utilizes analytical instruments. Project Planning: Participates in project planning and updates; executes project plan; participates in defining project goals; develops timelines; comprehends resource requirements. Lab Safety: Participates in routine maintenance and lab safety. Documentation: Appropriately documents experimental procedures and results according to established guidelines.

Minimum Education:

B.S. plus 4 years minimum related lab/industrial experience or M.S. with 2 years’ minimum relevant experience or Ph.D. in a life or physical science.

Minimum Experience / Training:

Required Indicate the minimum experience level and/or training required to perform this job. Basic Computer skills. Knowledge of analytical instruments assigned by supervisor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Life or Physical science with 4 years related lab/industry experience, or MS with 2 years experience, or PhD. BS/MS in Life or Physical Science would also be considered.

  • Experience and understanding of protein bioconjugation (antibody drug conjugation), and purification methodologies (e.g., size exclusion, ion exchange, and hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC)) is a plus.

  • Experience also may include working knowledge of automated FPLC systems, as well as basic analytical techniques such as HPLC and UV-Vis spectrophotometry.

  • Additionally, understanding of protein analytical methodologies and data interpretation (light scattering, mass spectrometry, etc.) is a plus.

  • Basic computer skills required (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Candidates should work well in a team environment and have flexibility to work on changing priorities.
