Primary Job Function:
This position is responsible for supporting an exciting variety of complex intellectual property litigation matters both inside and outside of the U.S. including, patent and trademark matters.
Core Job Responsibilities:
Develop successful litigation strategies
Direct the work of outside counsel in routine and complex litigation with minimal supervision
Develop and maintain case budgets
Counsel clients in all areas of the business and at all levels of management on legal issues, including creative approaches to dispute resolution
Identify complex legal issues related to assigned matter; develop alternative solutions
Represent Abbott externally to customers, suppliers, competitors or government agencies; resolve legal issues using negotiation skills and legal expertise
Work with clients and lawyers in other areas to resolve complex legal issues on cross-functional projects
Coach and direct assigned support staff in their responsibilities
Candidates must possess a JD degree and have or be able to obtain appropriate licensure to practice law in Illinois.
7+ years of experience
Consistently responsible for moderately complex litigation with minimal supervision
Experience in representing medical device, pharmaceutical and/or nutritional industries is desirable but not required
