JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Summary

Working under general direction, provides advanced engineering, sales, educational and technical support in response to more complex field inquiries from physicians, health care professionals, patients, and field sales staff, involving both AF and CRM products. Performs work that involves a high degree of independence. Identifies and routinely uses the most effective, cost efficient and best business practices to execute processes; continually evaluates their effectiveness and appropriateness. Exercises independent judgment in planning, organizing and performing work; monitors performance and reports status to manager.

Job Duties

  • Acts as a senior technical interface between the medical community and the assigned regional office.

  • Provides engineering, sales, and technical support in response to the most complex field inquiries on a 24-hour, on-call basis. Demonstrates a thorough command of all CRM and AF products, including the EnSite System related product and technical knowledge, cardiac mapping and ablation techniques, trends and player.

  • Provides insight, guidance, and feedback to management on market feedback and components of next generation of products.

  • Provides regional CRM implant and AF procedural case coverage.

  • Provides additional back-up support to CRM and AF Sales Representatives in the following areas:

  • Sales support

  • Regional training seminars

  • Clinical studies/data collection

  • Trouble Shooting

  • New product in-service training to physicians, nurses and sales representatives.

  • Mentors and provides leadership for less experienced EP TSSs and CRM TSSs.

  • Coordinates AF case coverage with supervisor and FCEs.

  • Continuously develops engineering, sales and technical skills relative to the overall Arrhythmia Management strategy, including learning opportunities via Sr. Sales personnel and FCEs.

  • Assists Training and Education departments with advanced educational seminars, and the preparation of educational materials.

  • Assists Sales with advanced product demonstrations to visiting physicians and sales personnel.

  • Remains current on developments in field(s) of expertise, regulatory requirements, and a good working knowledge of company and competitor products, markets, and objectives as well as industry trends.

  • Resolves and/or facilitates resolution of problems including identifying causes to prevent re-occurrence.

  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.

  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.

Equipment

Works with standard office equipment such as telephone, cellular phone, fax/copier, and a personal computer with standard office software.

Working Conditions

Work environment varies from well lighted office/cubicle, low to moderate noise level, to a variety of conditions caused by travel requirements such as customer offices, research labs, hospitals, hotels, use of automobiles, commercial travel, weather, etc.

Physical Demands

Activities require a significant amount of sitting in front of a computer monitor, some standing and walking. Significant use of hands and arms, plus finger dexterity to reach, point, write, type, operate a computer and other office equipment. Performs tasks that regularly require good correctable vision and hand/eye coordination. Activities also require significant use of voice and hearing for discussions with other employees.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Bio-Medical Engineering or related field required.

  • Requires IBHRE Pacing and EP certification.

  • Requires SJM Brady, Tachy, CRT, Ensite, and EP certification within 6 months of hire date, or to be promoted must already have all required certifications.

  • A minimum of five plus years increasingly responsible experience in the cardiac pacing and related industries.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of cardiology, electro-physiology, or cardiac electro-physiology procedures.

  • Familiarity with cath lab and operating room procedures and protocol.

  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of cardiac pacing systems is also necessary.

  • Must apply engineering skills and abilities to interpret and solve complex pacing ECG’s.

  • Must have comprehensive written and verbal communication, interpersonal, presentation, analytical, organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.

  • Must have the ability to concentrate on detail and work independently.

  • Must be able to work effectively with engineers, technical specialists, vendors, and customers to achieve assigned goals; must be capable of coordinating multiple assignments simultaneously and effectively.

  • Must possess comprehensive personal computer skills (experience with Microsoft Office or equivalent required) in graphics, word-processing, databases, authoring programs, etc., to develop presentation materials. Placement into this position requires written approval by the Area Vice President (AVP).

  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.

  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.

  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.

  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.

  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.

  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.

  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
