JOB DESCRIPTION:

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Primarily responsible for field support, project management, Clinical Research, as well as consistently outstanding performance in: field support of Investigational Device Exemption (IDE), Research Clinical Trials, accurate technical support/troubleshooting, strategic collaboration with Sales to develop business in the local territory.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Proactively and with minimal oversight, look for ways to improve the performance and capabilities of study sites within the territory

Use critical thinking to respond to challenges that arise at sites during trials and look for ways to prevent issues from occurring.

Work with sites to develop capabilities to take on more advanced trials, or greater numbers of trials.

Mentor less experienced Clinical Project Leaders, Field Clinical Engineers, Field Clinical Specialists, Field Clinical Research Associates, Clinical Research Associate within their region or in other parts of the organization.

Seek out opportunities to contribute to the organization through participation beyond the local assigned territory.

Identify opportunities to establish best practices within the organization.

Complete and maintain certifications that are relevant to their specific product area.

Develop expertise across multiple Abbott/St Jude Medical product lines and function as a local clinical resource.

Coordinate field support for all Clinical Research in the territory. Assist investigators to publish and/or present the results of these studies at major medical meetings.

Effectively manages territory, as evidenced by productivity, consistent strong enrolments and data quality.

Function as a “pipeline” between Abbott/St Jude Medical and the medical community, constantly communicating important information to customers, within the Clinical group and to other departments.

Supports the Field Organization as a speaker/trainer.

Complies with US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, Health Canada, other regulatory requirements, company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communication and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion as assigned.

EDUCATION & COMPETENCIES

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Biological Sciences, a related field, or equivalent.

Typically a minimum of six to eight years of clinical experience including cardiology, electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, or cardiac surgery. Broad cross-disciplinary and in-depth knowledge of the clinical profession.

An advanced credential in a relevant discipline/concentration such as biological sciences, professional health sciences certification or designation is preferred.

Conceptual and practical expertise in own discipline and knowledge of related disciplines.

Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.

Understands key business drivers and uses this to accomplish work.

Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.

Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.

Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.

Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.

Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.

Ability to travel 50-60% of the time.
