We are seeking an experienced, high caliber Reliability Engineer
This position is involved in the overall lifecycle of projects (designing, delivering, operating, maintaining) in the most productive and cost effective manner with the utmost emphasis on product quality. The role works closely with the new product development and R&D staff on design assurance activities and works closely with process and operations teams to ensure production readiness and manufacturing excellence of electrochemical components. Spearheads DFMECA and PFMECA activities.

Impact this role will have on Abbott:
Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system
Participate in establishing design requirements, ensuring they are complete, unambiguous and testable
Perform and manage design verification and validation activities (in house and with external partners)
Develop and execute test methods
Support the development and maintenance of the risk management file
Technical writing in support of design inputs, design outputs, qualification activities, regulatory requirements and related pursuits
Support and review the creation and maintenance of DHF’s, Technical Files and similar documents
Participate in assigned device development projects with primary influence on design assurance activities
Participate in device design reviews as participant and independent reviewer, as applicable
Provide manufacturing and production support, including process validations and similar activities
Prepares and communicates recommendations and respective action plans to drive cost containment and cost reduction efforts.

Ensures quality and effectiveness of assigned tasks.
Has awareness of the potential consequences of changes to established processes
Identifies areas of risk with respect to compliance.
Advise engineers on qualifying test fixtures
Advise engineers in developing validation plans, strategies, and reports
Advise in designing experiments, selecting sampling plans, and conducting statistical analyses, including hands on when necessary
Develops procedures and standards.
Your e experience(s), education and knowledge will further expand Abbott’s marketplace success:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, science or closely related discipline is desired, or equivalent technical experience plus demonstrated competence,
Desired 5+ years of significant engineering and/or operational experience.
Background with electrochemical devices a significant plus, such as capacitors or batteries, particularly for medical devices
Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards (FDA)
Additional post-graduate education may contribute towards the desired years of experience.
Experience preparing/completing validation protocols
Experience with risk management process
Experience with reviewing and maintaining design history files
Experience performing statistical analysis and SPCs
