Abbott Consultant Informatics Solutions in Madrid, Spain


Primary Objective of position:

The Informatics Consultant is responsible for supporting the acquisition and customer experience teams to expand ADD informatics business, secure new business and improve profitability across the Area. Drive and support the sales process with specific informatics sales know-how and consultation expertise. Establish and build executive level relationships and leverage them in developing new informatics business.

Major Accountabilities

  • Drive profitable growth by initiating, developing ADD IT solutions that entrenches ADD business

  • Supports the acquisition and customer experience teams to manage pre-sales IT activities. Provide sales/informatics knowledge and consultancy

  • Identifies and drives new IT business opportunities from initial identification through to customer implementation

  • Deliver structured training to internal teams that builds organisation competence and knowledge

  • Works with the marketing department on all tactical deliverables like promo materials, recommends KOLs, tradeshows, etc.

  • Formulates strategic ideas based on market and technology research

  • Works with regional I&I (Implementation & Integration) team to ensure all IT related projects are delivered and executed to meet the customer expectation.

  • Demonstrate appropriate levels of regional and national markets, competitor and product knowledge: LIS, HIS, BI…

  • Makes use of CRM system to track and drive sales quota responsibility


A science-based degree with a lot of experience in IT or the other way around, an IT or Informatics Degree with broad experience in healthcare/Laboratories industry.


  • Minimum of 7 years’ track record in the healthcare informatics industry or strong experience as an IT consultant with experience of selling informatics solutions – expanding market share and improving profitability with an annual sales quota of at least 1-2M USD.

  • The candidate must be fluent in English.

  • Proven experience in Laboratory of Clinical Diagnostics

  • Proven track record in a similar position supported by management and customer references

  • Deep level IT functional expertise; Ability to influence/work across multiple divisions (ADD/AMD/ADC)

  • Collaborative enterprise thinking; Willing to adapt to and drive organizational change

  • Thought leadership; Ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships

  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills; Willingness to work in cross-functional teams

  • Excellent product and industry knowledge

  • Willingness to travel on a frequent basis – on average three days per week
