We have an opportunity for a Healthcare Partnership Manager to join Abbott Diabetes Care on a permanent basis to cover Yorks, Humber,Sheffield territory.

Due to the focus of the role, it is a requirement that you will be based in the Scotland.

Driving and delivering Market Access activities in your region, and building on the launch of the FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System, your main responsibility will include:

  • Developing payer intimacy and adopt transparent payer relationships in order to optimise Abbott Diabetes Care brands

  • Anticipating access barriers, getting preferential status, formulary inclusion / ADC standardization and ensuring optimal funding of Abbott Diabetes Care products

  • Developing strategy and concise engagement plans with clear objectives and activities to optimise funding & access of Abbott Diabetes Care products

  • Being pro-active not reactive to changing environment and payer needs and share insights across organisation

  • Acting as the main Abbott contact focused on FreeStyle brands and coordinating interactions

  • Communicating the value proposition of Abbott Diabetes Care products/services and ensuring that health economics content is adequately communicated to payers

  • Identifying and shaping multi-stakeholder projects that are of interest to payers and that position Abbott Diabetes Care as a trusted and expert company

  • Working collaboratively with in field sales team to optimise performance of key accounts

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following:

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Proven experience of interacting and building relationships directly with healthcare stakeholders, in particular payers / decision makers

  • Proven experience of working in a payer organisation is desirable

  • Knowledge of the healthcare landscape, including local payer and provider environment and healthcare funding flows

  • Knowledge of payer decision-making processes and who are the key payer stakeholders/influencers

  • Knowledge of the needs and agendas of payers and influencers

  • Knowledge of pharmaco-economic principles

  • Proven track record in medical sales

  • Previous Regional Manager Experience desirable

  • Diabetes knowledge is desirable


  • Ability to build strong and long-lasting relationships with payers

  • Ability to translate the strategies into actionable and realistic engagement plans to ensure market access of Abbott products, in alignment with brand strategies

  • Ability to collect and share insights with MAVP to support the development of value propositions addressing payers needs

  • Ability to deliver customised value propositions to payers to convince them of product value

  • Ability to identify C&T situations with payers to reach mutually-satisfactory arrangements

  • Ability to shape multi-stakeholder projects

  • Ability to assess the opportunities and risks of inclusion for the Abbott Diabetes Care brands

  • Ability to monitor performance and adapt plans to external and internal changes


  • Degree level education or equivalent in Life Science subject
