JOB DESCRIPTION:

Primary Job Function

Perform finance/compliance audits of Abbott Laboratories’ domestic and international businesses over the course of 18-36 month rotation in Corporate Audit. Individual is assigned with 7-9 audits per year. Successfully complete audits from planning to fieldwork to report issuance to wrap up. Participate in OEC global internal investigations or other temporary projects whenever assigned. Work with Corporate Audit management and other team members for assigned goals and tasks to ensure timely deliverables.

Core Job Responsibilities

Plan audits and assess risks, and based upon risk assessment results, coordinate the audit appropriately from both functional and administrative perspective. Execute audit procedures to assess compliance with established Corporate and Division policies, plans, procedures and approvals, including special emphasis on those policies designed to assure compliance with certain business-related and corrupt practice-related governmental regulations.

Determine the adequacy of the systems of internal control. Review and assess the soundness, adequacy and application of accounting, financial, operating, and sales and marketing compliance controls. Prepare written reports of the audits performed; meet with appropriate levels of management, as needed, to review the results of the audit and follow-up on findings and recommendations to ensure appropriate and timely actions are taken by those responsible. Travel extensively, often on short notice, to the Company’s worldwide locations to execute internal audit engagements, as well as react to urgent situations and “fire drills” resulting from alleged illegal acts, violations of the code of conduct, and other suspected improprieties. Work with translation resources from external audit firms and ensure appropriate on-site coaching, guidance and deliverables. Partner with auditors and management from various Corporate Audit offices to ensure functional (Finance/IT/Compliance) alignment and joint accountability for the audits. Promote an effective team-oriented atmosphere and take initiative to assist in the orientation and development of new auditors. Achieve individual and department goals and tasks as assigned. Leverage experience obtained and relationships developed over the course of the rotation to identify future career interests and opportunities in Abbott finance.

Position Accountability / Scope

The Senior Financial Auditor is accountable both administratively and functionally to the Audit Manager, Corporate Audit. The Audit Manager is accountable both administratively and functionally to the Regional Director, Corporate Audit. In addition, the Audit Manager is also functionally accountable to Director, Corporate Audit and Director, Sales & Marketing Compliance Audit. These Directors are in turn accountable to the Vice President, Corporate Audit, the Chief Financial Officer and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.

The Senior Financial Auditor will meet periodically with the Audit Manager to discuss performance and progress on initiatives.

The Senior Financial Auditor will be primarily responsible for planning, executing and wrapping up audits assigned and completing internal investigations on a thorough and timely basis.

This position requires international travel of approximately 40 - 60%.
