Abbott Intermediate Engineer – Product Engineering (1 year contract) in Ottawa, Canada

JOB DESCRIPTION:

PURPOSE OF JOB

As a member of our Product Engineering Team, you will play a key role in improving manufacturing process capability by working with process, quality and test engineers to identify and address sources of variability in materials, processes and products

Your particular focus will be tracking and trending with a focus on automating routine data analysis performed for on-market CORE product support and improvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Gather and analyze data from product measurements and inline process measurements.

  • Create and execute efficient experimental strategies using DOE methods to evaluate proposed specification limits on product capability.

  • Use Statistical techniques to identify and predict trends; Generate data and metric reports

  • Use advanced data visualization to create dashboards and reports for management and key stakeholders

  • Author quality documents (e.g. protocols and reports)

  • Independently execute assigned tasks by applying standard engineering theories, concepts and techniques.

  • Attend cross-functional team meetings to share information

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1-3 years in an engineering role.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering with Mathematics or Statistics focus, or equivalent;

  • Strong working knowledge of data analysis and data mining techniques (SAS JMP or Minitab experience an asset);

  • Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills; critical thinking skills;

  • Ability to design experiments, analyze and interpret data, and document conclusions;

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary team members and also to work independently;

  • Very strong investigational skills, drive to understand and solve problems;

  • Propensity for continuous learning and experimentation.

  • Experience with statistical software and associated scripting an asset.
