We are seeking an experienced, high caliber Field Service Engineer (“FSE”) is to ensure that Abbott (ABT) equipment performs properly and safely by performing installs, service calls, hardware and software upgrades, as well as preventive maintenance in order to meet the equipment standards across platforms set forth by ABT. In conjunction with primary responsibilities, the FSE must document their work and prepare accurate reports incompliance with company standard operating procedures and related regulations. The FSE will perform the primary responsibilities, within an assigned region. Impact this role will have on Abbott: - Travel to accounts within the assigned region – based on a weekly schedule from the central coordinators under the supervision of the DSM – to perform service on ABT equipment including: - System Installs: - Install new Systems, demonstration Systems for conferences or training, rental Systems, and loaner Systems - Train Bio-Medical staff during system installs on user-level care and maintenance steps - Service Calls: - Perform necessary repairs and/or parts replacement based on Technical Support department’s diagnosis and troubleshooting of System problems for equipment in the field - Preventive Maintenance: - Perform routine preventive maintenance work on ABT equipment in the field - Provide complete, accurate and regular field service documentation and records, including: - Field Service reports and System Install reports in compliance with company procedures and industry regulations - Expense reports - Communication with the account and local ABT employees to arrange for a service call or installation: - Account representatives need to be informed of the proposed schedule in order to arrange for service or installation at the account - To offer quality customer service in the field and keep an organized schedule - Sales representatives within the appropriate business unit (EP, Vascular, Heart Failure, etc.) must also be kept apprised of service activities as a key liaison to the account - Participate in required training arranged by the Capital Service Operations (CSO) department - Develops and maintains an advanced knowledge of the EP, Cardiovascular, Structural Heart and Neuromodulation procedures for which Abbott Technologies are used - Supports the different milestones in the sales process by demonstrating product capabilities, answering technical inquiries, and delivering on ABT value propositions to customers - Complies with local and federal laws and regulations, reporting complaints according to company policy and code of federal regulations - Supports all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements - Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments - Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors - Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned Your experience(s), education and knowledge will further expand Abbott’s marketplace success: - Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Life Sciences, Business, or equivalent - Experience in a systems/service engineering role, supporting medical device equipment and technologies - Experience or training in a medical setting and interaction with medical staff Your preferred qualifications and education: - Ability to interface with multiple groups in the organization to resolve technological issues - Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a diverse cross-functional team environment - Experience interfacing with both internal team members and external customers as part of a solution based service process - Personal computing skills with ability to perform word processing/spreadsheet tasks to perform documentation, presentation, and analysis activities - Detail oriented and organized, possesses a strong analytical skillset - Quick learner and an ability to adapt to situations while on location - Excellent interpersonal, analytical and communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical issues in a preceptor role - Travel up to 80%
