Job Summary:

Abbott is seeking a passionate, strategic marketer to join one of the company’s fastest-growing divisions. Heart Failure is a condition that affects over 5 million people in the United States alone, and Abbott’s coordinated effort to bring new medical device solutions to this population will revolutionize how this debilitating condition is treated in the US and abroad. Telemedicine and the recent availability of implanted remote pressure monitoring technologies now allows doctors to efficiently tailor and adjust patients’ pharmaceutical regimens on an individual basis – which has the ability to improve patients’ quality of life and functional status, while also preventing costly hospitalizations that represent a significant drain on healthcare systems around the world.

The Sr. Marketing Manager position will be the internal and external champion for all physician, nurse, and patient stakeholders as it relates to our implantable pressure sensor devices, delivery systems, and the communication devices for the remote monitoring of these heart failure patients. The selected candidate will be responsible for serving as a key contributor to the overall commercialization effort for new device solutions that will enable both an efficient implant and ongoing frictionless data collection and transmission from the patient’s home. Additional responsibilities include providing guidance and support on related product development activities (defining requirements), market development activities, and collaboration with global sales/marketing teams. This position has responsibility for leading early phase product planning activities including business justification, executing and managing implementation of commercial strategies and development and execution of product commercialization plans. The incumbent in this position will be regarded as a deep technical expert related to assigned product(s)/product lines with broad knowledge of related fields.

  • Develops analysis around the competitive environment and clearly defines product positioning, key issues, strategies, and target audiences for assigned product(s)/product lines

  • Collaborates with marketing colleagues on integrated marketing business plan deliverables for assigned programs

  • Partners with marketing colleagues to shape customer requirements for related products

  • Serves as leader of physician product planning advisory board for assigned product(s)/product lines

  • Works with marketing communications to support development of launch materials, product literature, and any other collateral material required to support sales and key marketing messages

  • Develops product marketing bulletins on new and current products. Provides communication to sales team on market released products.

  • Conducts product overviews for physician and sales reps.

  • Presents product and marketing plans to internal management.

Qualifications:

  • 4 year degree; MBA preferred

  • 8 or more years progressively responsible marketing experience with 4 year degree

  • 4 or more years progressively responsible marketing experience with MBA

  • Experience working with complex product portfolios in the medical device industry.

  • Experience with strategic product planning and commercial execution.

  • Developed leadership skills/experience, including the ability to map task interdependencies, prioritize such tasks, and develop, monitor and live within budgets as well as the demonstrated ability to forecast major milestones.

  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.

  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.

  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
