Position Summary

Facilitates the integration of scientific, regulatory, marketing, compliance and customer support and operational activities for Abbott Molecular Division on-market product families and/or key processes. Aligns activities to achieve performance and financial goals across multiple business areas. Demonstrates resourcefulness in accomplishing objectives. Communicates area business strategy and divisional goals.

Main Responsibilities

Technical Knowledge: Develop and apply operations/ product/ process knowledge to (area of support). Use sound judgment and appropriate scientific methods and thorough data analysis.

Accurately documents work.

Planning/Project Management: Solicits input for alternative approaches to resolve critical business issues.

Conceive, plan, design, execute, and document projects/activities efficiently and in conformance with applicable OPs.

Patient Focus: Anticipates, identifies and resolves internal and external customer issues through timely complaint resolution, understanding of processes, product performance and clinical utility.

Communication/Leadership: Communicates problem resolution across teams to minimize potential reoccurrences.

Business Focus/Alignment: Influences and communicates direction and outcome of critical issues that have direct impact on compliance and business performance.

Demonstrates fiscal responsibility through actionable recommendations and accomplishments such as maintaining product availability and improvements in product sustainability.

Aligns resources with strategic business priorities.

May perform other duties as assigned.

Translates organizational goals into business goals across teams and Operations.

Aligns and priorities goals across functional areas.

Leadership of several Technical Support Leaders; and other professional staff.

Business Team Leaders or Technical Product Development Section Managers.

Accountable for multiple departmental budgets and financial performance.

Consolidates plans and updates; compiles contingency plans.

Negotiates and rationalizes resources and budgets.

Accountable for multiple product families; delivery technologies; and/or key processes at one or more sites.

Provides any needed support to Operations and QC.

Cultivates relationships with internal and external customers and develops strong networks throughout the company and industry.

Ensures effective GMP/ISO practices across teams to achieve divisional and FDA compliance.

Negotiates division regulatory policy.

Makes timely scientific; operational; and business decisions with high risk or consequence to a business area.


Bachelor's degree with typically 10+ years of experience in a related technical discipline and/or equivalent training and experience. Advanced degree(s) may offset required years of experience. Masters or PhD is preferred.

-Required experience includes proficiency in resource planning, budgetary management and personnel administration.

- Highly desirable experience includes identification and implementation of business strategies (future markets, regulatory, quality, etc.); for issues related to manufacturing, suppliers, commercial operations,

- Uses technical knowledge to acquire, analyze and interpret data.

- Computer and data management skills.

- Managed / lead multiple expanded investigations applying six sigma tools for root cause identification.
