Responsible for designing/ modeling product components for new and existing medical devices/ (e.g. assemblies/equipment/fixtures/programmers/leads/stents) into detail drawings and documentation using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and other tools.
Model product from concepts using available tools, analysis techniques, and technologies through use of parametric CAD software and other mechanisms.
Perform Mechanical design/redesign of medical device products applying industry standards (e.g.
ASME Y14.5M-1994) to detail drawings.
Create/modify/maintain documentation using CAD tools that are tied to a data management system.
Provide support for OEM device documentation and Bill of Material structure support.
Completes document packages by detailing parts and creating BOM and schematics following layouts, sketches and verbal instructions to ensure that all of the needed documentation is available for manufacturing process.
Reviews and verifies design work of peers to check for compliance with standards and corporate procedures.
May review Change Order (CO) package by reading information on COs (e.g. document description) and supplemental information (e.g., preliminary sketch) in order to identify missing information.
May generate COs
May provide illustrations, animation and web publishing solutions that allow communication of 2D/3D product information for interactive assembly, maintenance/ restoration of documentation, product presentations and Federal and International compliance.
May provide design support to other sites of business, as needed.
May provide work direction to other employees in work group.
Actively participates in comprehensive development of plans including an outline of duties and project assignments.
Demonstrates independence by prioritizing and completing assignments.
Solves unusually complex problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious.
Develops information which extends the existing boundaries of knowledge in a given field.
Determines and pursues courses of action necessary to obtain desired results.

Assignments are often self-initiated.
Two-year degree with 8+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and technical work experience. May also require a license or certification in the area of expertise. Applies superior knowledge of highly complex technical concepts and/or develops highly advanced technologies or processes. Thorough understanding of product or systems fundamentals in cross functional areas. Recommends/utilizes/interprets advanced numerical and statistical data and/or computer software programs to present documentation and analysis and resolve complex problems. Will perform this job in a quality system environment. Failure to adequately perform tasks can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations. Performs and guides technical activities resulting from self-initiated or assigned programs leading to innovative applications of existing or new products, systems, or technologies having major importance to the department and organization. Creates the technical basis, including Records of Invention, patents, product definitions, developments and processes for proprietary positions having potential benefits for the business.
