JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position provides a leadership role by assigning work within the department, resolving issues and managing people-related processes; works without appreciable direction; responsible for compliance to industry standards; makes timely and effective decisions related to business issues within scope of responsibility; appropriately elevates high-risk issues/decisions. completed work is reviewed from a relatively long-term perspective for desired results; relates risk and gain to critical success factors and takes appropriate action; decisions or recommendations would typically result in achievement of critical organizational objectives and affect the image of the organization's technical capability; requires high levels of competence, confidence and credibility; strategic and tactical decisions will be made based upon data the individual provides and/or presents in a management or informal setting; errors or failure to achieve results will add to costs and may impact the goals of the organization.

Primary Job Function:

Apply understanding of technical engineering, people and process management, and the environment to support attainment of business objectives; manages the plans and operations of the department ensuring organizational objectives and goals are met;

Core Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.

  1. Manage and lead the day-to-day operations of the department; provide technical and process guidance to both internal and external resources; assess and execute cost reduction activities;

  2. Responsible for providing project management oversight to all assigned projects within the department;

  3. Responsible for all people-management activities including but not limited to: mentoring, performance

management, administrative duties;

  1. Lead and / or participate on cross-functional teams to support organizational goals;

  2. Responsible for design changes and transfers that impact manufacturing;

  3. Travel up to 10% of the time by any means necessary to support organizational goals;

  4. Understand and promote adherence to EHS policies, procedures, rules and regulations; complete all required EHS training programs; ensure employees report any work related injuries or illness and are promptly investigated;

  5. Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the Quality System.

Position Accountability / Scope:

This position is accountable for the following:

  1. implementation of strategy, scope, process and programs related to the engineering function;

  2. providing significant and positive impact to short-term, mid-range and long-term organizational goals;

  3. demonstrating continual improvement in engineering matters;

  4. creating a work environment that supports cross-functional team effectiveness;

  5. management and development of reporting staff;

  6. provide input during budget processes;

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required

Typically requires 8+ years of engineering experience with or exposure to manufacturing, quality and/or product

development to develop the competence required to meet the skills and responsibilities of the position.

Candidate / incumbent should possess the following:

  • ability to motivate, direct and provide technical knowledge and mentoring to technical support staff;

  • ability to operate independently within a broad scope of responsibilities under minimal supervision and

  • under challenging time constraints; experience with or exposure to a regulated environment; ability to clearly, concisely and accurately convey communications; ability to form and develop interpersonal,

  • professional relationships; displays socially and professionally appropriate behavior;

  • ability to interpret and evaluate complex processes, develop and propose risk-based options to resolve

  • issues and implement solutions; ability to influence and lead both with and without direct authority;

  • demonstrated leadership skills; strong organization, time- and project management skills; ability and aptitude to use various types of databases and computer software to complete CJRs;
