Strategic Planning Director, China

General Manager, China

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Strategic Planning Director, China, serves as a senior member of the ADC China Leadership team, providing commercial leadership at the Country level. The role plays a key role in defining and implementing the strategies and business plans necessary to achieve ADC China’s vision and deliver the country’s sales, margin and market share goals.

MAIN / MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy and Business Development

 Work under the leadership of General Manager, China, in collaboration with all functions across ADC China, to define strategic direction for the sales and commercial operations and identify/validate key opportunities to drive profitable growth

 Lead strategic initiatives across ADC China, providing advice, leadership, and/or support, as required (e.g., Gross Margin Improvement, Marketing Mix Optimization, Sales Force Alignment/Expansion, et al.)

 Lead and drive the annual ADC China strategic planning process; generate new ideas on how to create growth and value for the country

 Act as a strategic “think tank” for General Manager, China, on business development opportunities (ex. co-promotions with other manufacturers, partnerships with other organizations)

Commercial Operations

 Work with ADC China sales, commercial and marketing teams, to develop/enhance and deploy strategies, processes and systems to support commercial success (e.g., sales force targeting, sales force incentive compensation, sales force size/alignment, promotional resource optimization, pricing framework)

 Conduct periodic business reviews with the ADC China Leadership team to identify and address business issues and opportunities, and to ensure progress toward business objectives

 Drive the forecasting process (e.g., Sales & Operations Planning, Rolling 6Q LBE) for ADC China in conjunction with the Countries, Finance and Demand Planning

Product Portfolio Management

 Define and manage ADC China Product Portfolio Roadmap

 Liaise with Area Commercial team to represent product-related needs of ADC China

 Lead the development of product launch strategies; leverage learnings from other Asia Pacific Countries to drive product launches

Other

 Engage and manage external consultancies and agencies as appropriate

 Participate in sales meetings, training and industry trade shows

 Lead and manage projects as assigned

SUPERVISORY/ MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES IF APPLICABLE

 Direct reports: Saleforce Effectiveness team (3) + Sales Training Manager

MINIMUM BACKGROUND/ EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 Proven leader capable of building a best-in-class business strategy

 Outstanding consulting and strategic planning skills—proven ability to identify/define business questions and issues, conduct analysis, formulate actionable ideas and recommend/sell a point-of-view to senior management

 Have a strong understanding of sales and marketing and proven ability to see an idea through to full implementation.

 High-energy, self-starter that is assertive, possesses a high degree of self-confidence and intellectual curiosity, exhibits a bias for action and demonstrates good executive presence

 Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management

 Innovative and creative—demonstrated ability to leverage consumer insights to identify and evaluate creative ideas, focusing on those that will create sustainable competitive advantage

 5+ years post-MBA work experience

 Top-tier strategy consulting experience (e.g., McKinsey, Bain, Boston Consulting Group, Strategy&) preferred; experience in health care or consumer packaged goods a plus

 Verbal/written fluency in Mandarin is preferred

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED

 BA/BS in business or science/engineering. MBA, PhD or MD from top-tier school will be an added advantage
