Abbott Senior Analytical Scientist in Singapore, Singapore


Description: We are looking for a talented, highly-motivated, and technically competent Physiochemical Scientist to become part of our team. The Senior Analytical Scientist must have a strong foundation in Physical Chemistry/Surface Science/Materials Science/Food Science with a record of achieving technology development and research goals on aggressive timelines through effective -functional collaboration. The Senior Analytical Scientist should have significant experience in powder/liquid characterization and rheological behavior characterization. Prior experience in nutritional formula/dairy products is highly desirable.

Job Responsibility

  • Understand all aspects of physical chemistry that are relevant to company products

  • Lead research projects in developing and deploying novel material characterization methods and tools to understand and improve the physiochemical properties and the production process of powder and liquid nutritional formula products

  • Build mathematical modeling in predicting product properties through ingredient interactions and structure-property relationships

  • Establish pro-active collaboration with cross-functional R&D teams globally to address emerging analytical questions and accelerate new product and process development cycle

  • Work closely and provide technical support and transfer to supply chain, QA, commercial and third party facilities, act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in own area

  • Proactively identify areas for method innovation and generate intellectual properties for the company, promote method modernization and standardization internally and externally

  • Participate in formulating lab procedures / processes and assume responsibility of ownership; plan and execute qualification, calibration and maintenance program for advanced instrumentation

  • Provide guidance to junior team members

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • In-depth knowledge in physical chemistry and demonstrated hands-on experience in a broad spectrum of advanced material characterization instrumentation and technologies in nutrition industry: i.e. particle sizer, zeta potential, DSC, XRD, rheology, morphology, physical stability and material processability assessment

  • Proven track records in method development and the management of the technical aspects of the projects that require the utilization of physiochemical/rheological characterization instrumentations

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

  • Exhibit oneself as a leader, mentor, and technical supervisor

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Ph. D. in Physical Chemistry/Surface Science/Materials Science/Food Science

  • Minimum 5 years industrial or academic working experiences in food/pharmaceutical/materials

  • Strong publication record

  • Experience on food processing is a plus
