Primary Function / Primary Goals / Objectives:
The primary function of the Sr Engineering Tech ( Facilities) is to maintain, repair or replace plant facility related items by working with vendors keeping a high standard of safety, quality and productivity at the lowest possible cost while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements
Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system. The Senior Engineering Tech ( Facilities) Will also be responsible for the following Core Job Responsibilities:
Environmental, Health, Safety and Security Demonstrate accountability and responsibility for EHS performance and compliance through active participation and support of Abbott’s EHS Program.
Ensure Facility compliance with all environmental agencies (Federal, State, and Local) and all GMP, regulatory, and safety requirements.
Projects and Planning Support Plant capital projects by collaborating with plant and or division engineering.
Ensure project timetables are met and projects completed on time.
Plan Facility Maintenance activities that relate to PM’s, repairs and audit preparation.
Quality and Compliance - Assure the support, implementation, compliance and maintenance of programs and systems related to the following: 1. Quality/Regulatory 2. HVAC 3. Environmental Health and Safety.
Provide technical resources to the facilities, plant, and division engineering groups.
Analyze trends and make recommendations to improve Facility operations.
Participate in brainstorming and development of CIP projects.
People Management - Monitor daily contractor activity and assure vendor safety by regularly monitoring contractor activities, correcting unsafe behaviors, and completing contractor safety reviews.
Budget In coordination with the Facility Engineer, maintain/manage the direct expense budgets per plan or yearly updates for the Facility Maintenance department.
High School Diploma/GED, required. Successful completion of Abbott’s skill test required. Two years work experience working with industrial utilities systems or industrial electrical/mechanical systems.
Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritionals. Three years related experience. Working knowledge of HVAC mechanical, pneumatic and electrical controls and devices, computer controlled HVAC systems, plumbing, and general building construction and repair trades. Successful behaviors in individual leadership, self-starter, teamwork, work management, communication, analysis, initiative, technical knowledge, delegation, resource coordination, safety awareness, and follow-up.
Accountability / Scope/Budget:
· This position is accountable for complying with applicable FDA (GMP), USDA, OSHA Abbott and Sturgis Plant, regulations, policies, procedures or guidelines. · On a continuous basis, this position must coordinate with all plant production areas the usage of steam, product water, compressed air and process sewer to avoid utility shortages that could stop production, jeopardize product quality or result in environmental problems. Works under minimal direct supervision. Accountable for adherence to procedures regarding ammonia leak detection and reporting: · Perform job duties per current CJRs/Competencies and Goals.
