JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary

Responsible for the following services for Abbott Vascular at Abbott West Distribution Center:

  • 3PL warehousing activity including receipt, put-away, inventory management, and distribution

  • Outbound carrier and Forwarder selection and relationship management

  • Budget management for $14MM total spend

  • People leadership for multiple indirect and direct labor staff

  • Local business systems expertise and process management

  • Liaison between internal groups and external functions for various activities, projects, and initiatives

Additional Main Responsibilities

3PL warehousing activity including receipt, put-away, inventory management, and distribution

  • Accountable for total inventory of $80MM

  • Liaison with Planning functions to ensure proper communication on projected product volumes etc.

  • Address operational issues pertaining to activities at each distribution center with documented results

  • Annually review current 3PL's performance against alternative providers

  • Re-negotiate pricing as issues arise and as contract renews or changes

  • Ensure all critical Key Performance Indicators are met (receiving put-away time, delivery accuracy, shrinkage, etc.)

  • Ensure that warehouse activities are being performed according to SOX and internal audit guidelines

  • Maintain warehouse documentation and quality policy adherence

Outbound carrier and Forwarder selection and relationship management

  • Active relationship management partners in transportation

  • Review metrics and host QBR and MBR meetings as defined by leadership

  • Review and assess Logistics service suppliers and transitioning service providers where needed to maintain the most efficient and cost-effective supply chain

  • Keep current on the transportation industry to help foresee and changes that could impact AV

  • Maintain relationships with AMO carriers and forwarders to ensure that all services are being met

  • Track damage and claims process with the transportation providers

Budget management for $14MM total spend

  • Budget Management for OUS Freight ($3MM), US Domestic Parcel (>$7MM), 3PL ($2.5MM), warehousing and distribution materials (>$1MM)

  • Manage third party freight payment service provider - Work continually to ensure the correct cost centers are being applied to the right transactions

  • Ensure that all invoices are being paid in accordance of any contracts/agreements in effect

  • Manage department budget to ensure that expenses and costs are within the budget set and the approved guidelines

  • Achieve annual cost reduction tasks (typically 5-10% of annual budget)

  • Provide explanations when there are budget and volume variances monthly

  • Deliver four LBE plan exercises annually and create next fiscal year budgetary plan

People leadership for multiple indirect and direct labor staff

  • 3PL staff requiring oversight – Approximately 50 HC (1 GM, 5-6 Supervisors/Leads, 40-45 operators)

  • 4-5 Logistics Staff – Primarily indirect analysts, 1 direct labor logistics assistant

  • 2-3 Business Systems Analysts

Local business systems expertise and process management

  • Equipment maintenance and trouble-shooting (Pack stations, RF guns, etc.)

  • SAP Change proposals and testing

  • Quality process management – perform data queries around recalls and stop ships

Liaison between internal groups and external functions for various activities, projects, and division initiatives

  • Coordinate with organizational functions, such as Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Operations, and Finance to provide necessary supply chain support for both new and existing products

  • Responsible for on-time execution of customer requirements related to internal and external providers

  • Manage network or product transitions, as needed, with minimal disruption to customer needs

  • Facilitate and coordinate multifunctional team meetings to ensure initiatives are accomplished

  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional policies and procedures

  • Partners with customer service to ensure that customer requirements are being addressed and met

Accountability/Scope

Position requires work with cross-functional teams within the division and across divisions at the regional level. Position demands work with all levels of employees, from entry level operator to senior management, as well as work with outside suppliers to ensure product is being handled properly during the logistics operation.

Additional Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree required, with disciplines preferred: Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Information Systems, Engineering, or other technical field. APICS CPIM or CSCP Preferred.

Minimum 8-10 years’ related work experience, covering majority of areas below:

People leadership Logistics operations 3PL relationship management Budgetary management Medical device industry & regulations Product lifecycle management Project Management or process improvement Systems or network integration activity Supply planning, forecasting, or inventory management ERP / WMS / TMS systems

Ideal candidate must have proven ability to work cross-functionally, with customer driven focus and sense of urgency. The individual must be skilled at active problem solving and working within fast paced environment. He or she must have demonstrated ability to collaborate with numerous functions and build consensus across functional, business unit, and geographic boundaries. Individual must possess excellent communication abilities at all levels of the organization.
