Primary Job Function
The captain reports to the Director of Flight Operations. Responsible as Pilot-In-Command (PIC) for the operation of the Beechcraft King Air 350 aircraft. When assigned to a flight, the captain has the final authority regarding the operation of the aircraft. Ensures that all flight and ground operations are conducted at the highest levels of safety and comply with federal aviation regulations, applicable foreign regulations, department and company policies and procedures.
Core Job Responsibilities
Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
Responsible for the airworthiness of the aircraft to which assigned, and for the safety of the passengers and crew on board. The captain accomplishes the duties of pilot-in-command, as defined by Federal Aviation Regulations, the aircraft flight manual, and the department policy and operations manual, and is operationally responsible for all phases of the flight.
Obtain the training and skills necessary to obtain a type rating for the KingAir 350 aircraft. Develop and maintain a complete knowledge, understanding and a mastery of the aircraft systems.
Makes decisions to start, delay, or cancel flights, or deviate from planned routes, or destinations, when operating conditions dictate.
As a team member, always confers with other crewmembers to obtain as much information as possible to determine the best course of action. Maintains open channels of communication with all crewmembers.
Responsible for maintaining highest standards of safety through acquiring all pertinent knowledge pertaining to any flights, pilot proficiency training and continuing education. Sets high standards for personal performance.
Develops and maintains thorough understanding about the operation and location of all aircraft emergency, survival and medical equipment.
Keeps fully informed on FAA and foreign regulations, and department policy pertaining to operations.
Keeps informed of latest industry, aircraft, or equipment developments that may impact the department. Serves in an advisory capacity to the director and chief pilot regarding aircraft flight operations.
Monitors crew performance and delegates duties required for the safe and efficient operation of the aircraft.
Develop and maintain the ability to communicate effectively with passengers, corporate executives and customers and express verbal and written thoughts coherently and logically.
Assures safety and security of aircraft while away from home base.
Maintains flight manuals and navigation charts, as required. Completes appropriate flight logs and paperwork for each flight.
Responsible for post-flight activities, including proper storage and protection of aircraft, cleaning and restocking while away from home base.
Must always act with a clear customer focus.
Provides leadership and direction to others by setting a positive example, demonstrating teamwork and professionalism at all times, treating co-workers with respect, and encouraging others to do their best. Always seeks to improve the quality of their work.
Mentors, teaches, and shares knowledge with all less-experienced crewmembers.
Completes collateral duties as assigned or on a volunteer basis.
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree desirable. Educational background in an aviation related field desired.
Must hold FAA Airline Transport Pilot - Airplane Multiengine Land Certificate (ATP). FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate and Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificates desired.
Type ratings in aircraft operated by the company are desirable.
Minimum Experience / Training Required
Previous flight experience in a corporate aviation department, military aviation, or the airlines preferred.
Experience in international operations desirable.
Experience in flight instruction or teaching desirable.
KingAir 350 Captain: ATP; Recommended minimum 1,500 hours total flying time; 500 hours multi-engine flight time (PIC), 100 hours in left seat in aircraft type.
Type-rating in KingAir 350 preferred.
The pilot applicant must be able to pass FAA First Class physical.
New employee applicants must complete a pre-employment company physical.
Successful completion of a check-ride conducted by the company aviation department.
Successful completion of an initial, or recurrent training course specific to company aircraft at a designated contract training facility may be required.
