Abbott Office & Internal Communications Manager in Witney, United Kingdom

Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops and manufactures leading-edge glucose monitoring systems and test strips for use in both home and hospital settings. We have recently launched FreeStyle Libre, a new system that will revolutionise how people with diabetes around the world monitor their blood glucose levels.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced people and project manager to join our Witney manufacturing and technical Centre of Excellence in a newly created Office & Internal Communications Manager role.

The Witney site is an exciting and successful site that has attracted a lot of attention globally within Abbott. The internal communications element of your role will be to support the implementation of an internal communications strategy that helps to share success stories, support initiatives across the site (such as charity events, our schools and work experience programmes, and Women in STEM events), and promote employee engagement. You’ll be developing materials such as newsletters, videos and presentations, and working with colleagues across the site to develop communication strategies that help them to share updates about their work in a consistent and professional way.

Alongside the internal communications responsibility, you’ll also be responsible for managing and developing the site administration team. This is a team of 5, and you will be responsible for ensuring the team meet the site’s business requirements by creating a working environment that supports team effectiveness, identifying opportunities for process efficiencies, and coaching and mentoring the team on their performance, training and development needs.

You will also have additional responsibility for providing administrative support to the Site Director. This will include managing VIP visits and meetings, drafting monthly highlights and updates, and managing the Site Director’s diary.

To be successful, you should be degree-educated and have previous experience of people, project and budget management. You will need to have a proven track record of success in an internal communications or PR related role, as well as excellent organizational and planning skills to ensure you can multi-task effectively and make this new position a success.

In addition to a competitive salary, Abbott offers a highly attractive benefits package which includes a defined contribution pension scheme, a share ownership scheme, private healthcare, life assurance, and a flexible benefits scheme which you can tailor to your own requirements.
