Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops and manufactures leading-edge glucose monitoring systems and test strips for use in both home and hospital settings, and we have recently launched a new system that will revolutionise how people with diabetes around the world monitor their blood glucose levels.
To build on the success of this new product, we are entering an exciting phase of investment and growth in our Witney facility. To support this, we have a new opportunity for a Senior Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to join our Operations group.
Supporting and managaging a wide variety of EHS projects, you will work with stakeholders across the site to provide technical subject-matter expertise and to lead the site implementation of local, regional and global EHS programs.
Specific duties will include:
Managing the site emergency response team;
Leading projects relating to Industrial Hygiene and COSHH;
Developing and conducting safety training;
Communicating and implementing safety programs, and assisting in the investigation of safety incidents;
Developing and implementing EHS policies;
Training, coaching and mentoring colleagues across the site to develop their EHS expertise.
To be successful, you will need to demonstrate a strong knowledge of EHS legislation and standards (demonstrated by IOSH, NEBOSH or related qualifications), and substantial experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably in the pharmaceutical or medical devices sector).
You should have proven experience of leading EHS-related projects, and engaging stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of your work. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise and experience in projects relating to chemical safety and chemical storage / management systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as are strong relationship-building skills across all levels of the organization.
