Abbott Nutrition is a leader in providing enteral feeding devices, including enteral feeding pumps, pump sets, enteral feeding tubes and kits. Enteral feeding (also known as “tube feeding”) is a means of providing nutrition to patients who cannot obtain nutrition by swallowing. The nutrition or feed contains all the necessary calories and vitamins that the patient will need.


The location of this position is dependent on the successful candidate.

This position reports directly to Director Operational Excellence Europe & Asia and is responsible for the following:

  • Providing strategic transformational expertise through the deployment of Business Process Improvement Systems, related tools and thought processes.

  • Support ANSC sites in Europe mainly (CH, GR, SL, ZW), but will also extend specific support to the Asian sites (JX, JH, AMS).

  • Acts as the key subject matter expert regarding process improvement initiatives, like MOS, OSW/LSW, OEE improvements, quality improvements, planning KPIs etc.

  • Supports sites in achieving their annual CIP targets, amongst which the War-on-Waste program.

  • Presents recommendations and progress reports to senior and executive leadership.

  • Provides mentoring, coaching and project management leadership to team members within a global structure, business unit or functional level.

  • Drives standardization across the sites in multiple initiatives.

  • Creating an environment and assisting leadership and customers in the timely and successful completion of cost effective, strategic project and business improvement opportunities.

  • Serves as project consultants, guide and leader while implementing and accelerating constructive long-term change.

  • Lead and support OpEx maturity assessments at our international sites.

  • Supports sites to certify for Shingo accreditation.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Supports organization(s) to meet their strategic objectives.

  • Assumes leadership role as the key continuous improvement consultant in a learn-and-do-approach.

  • Stays current in the field through continuous learning, and internal and external benchmarking activities.

  • Influences projects and business improvement initiatives to directly contribute to stated strategic objectives.

  • Facilitates the Business Process Improvement Certification process for continued learning and organizational capability development.

Key Role Responsibilities:

  • Support Head of OperationalExcellence to define Business Excellence Strategies/ Class A goals, deployment plans and ensure deployment is aligned with the business strategy

  • Articulate and communicate the Operational Excellence strategy to the Site / Function and serve as a role model for Business Excellence behaviors and values

  • Coordinate Business Continuity Planning (BCP) Lead Lean Six Sigma projects to improve quality, reduce cycle times and reduce cost and achieve customer satisfaction

  • Facilitate Green Belt & Advocate Training and Kaizen on site

  • Utilizes tools and systems like Zarpac and the SALT methodology for OEE improvements.

  • Teach, Influence and Motivate staff to apply Lean Six Sigma tools for problem solving

  • Track and report project benefits

  • Create an open environment for learning and facilitate Business Excellence/Class A/ BCP training

  • Mentor Black Belts, Green Belts and Advocates for Lean Sigma projects

  • Applies Influencing Behavior methods

  • Guides sites towards Shingo accreditation

  • Track and report project benefits

  • Network with other Sites / Functions to exchange knowledge and good practice both internally and externally

  • Support Divisional Operational Excellence projects.

  • Contributes to the development of new techniques and plans within area of expertise.

  • Integrates trends, data and information into plans, deliverables and recommendations.

  • Develops innovative and creative output based on interpretation and analysis that improve business performance and contribute to corporate goals and strategic intent through:

  • Opportunity/risk analyses

  • Cost/benefit analyses

  • Pricing models

  • Anticipates operational, program, and implementation issues and develops preventative measures.

  • Adapts projects, programs or methods based on customer or business partner feedback.

  • Provides thought leadership, guidance and advice in own field.

  • Works across the organization to effectively obtain and allocate resources to complete programs and projects on time.

  • Presents facts and information to negotiate mutually acceptable solutions.

  • Work is guided by business plans for the discipline.

  • Escalates matters of business risk.

  • Influences others through their professional/technical expertise.

  • Manages critical projects, customer engagements or business processes.

  • Guides completion of major projects or customer engagements.


  • Master Degree in any related discipline, preferable in Engineering

  • Black Belt certificate strongly recommended

Experience/Skills Required:

  • 3 to 6 years related experience and 3 years in management situation

  • Strong analytical competencies.

  • Strong Change Management & Facilitation skills.

  • Good Project Management skills.

  • Trainer capability.

  • Proven influencing, coaching and mentoring capability.

  • Ability to travel between 40% and 50%.
