The Director, IT Finance is a key leadership role within the Corporate Finance team who is responsible for overseeing all related financial processes and activities related to the Company’s IT operations. Given that IT functions in a matrix organization and provides services to all businesses worldwide, it is critical that this leader establish strong partnerships with the Business and Division Controllers in order to facilitate effective practices and measures throughout our current financial processes that bring transparency to IT. This individual will be responsible for working with the VP, IT to help define overall performance management strategy for IT and work across finance leadership to gain alignment. Operationally, this leader must bring a mindset of standardization and improvement to current IT finance processes.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Drive Strategic Initiatives and Programs: Leader serves as business partner to IT. Evaluate and provide recommendations to the business of IT across the Company’s IT leadership to achieve strategic imperatives and sustainability in the most efficient manner. Support execution of key strategic programs, corporate initiative action plans and related results. Ensure key initiatives, programs and related business cases are presented with complete and reliable financials.

  • Develop all LBE and Financial Reporting processes in the most efficient manner: Must be willing to challenge the status quo and leverage the company’s shared services structure to be effective.

  • Drive clarity and interpretation of Financial Policies: As the world of IT continues to evolve, how technology is accounted is changing, especially with establishing the value of digital technologies. This individual is required to understand technology life-cycle and provide guidance on how to interpret investments based on established accounting policies.

  • Deliver Meaningful Financial Forecasts : Ensure short and long-term financial forecasts are presented in a meaningful way. Develop, implement and oversee processes to deliver clear and consistent forecasting and reporting of the organization’s cost and value while aligning financial impacts across Abbott in a transparent manner. Foresee potential opportunities/risk and prepare contingency plans in advance. This leader must work directly with VP, IT to tell the story of IT through the numbers.

  • Liaise with Finance Leadership: Develop and maintain relationships and transparent communication with division and other Corporate Finance leaders to ensure alignment on current and forward-looking initiatives and programs to drive and deliver meaningful forecasts and value creation.

  • Ensure Accurate Financial Reporting and Compliance: Oversee financial results as provided by Corporate Financial Services (CFS). Provide clear and meaningful financial reporting. Ensure compliance and champion internal controls and procedures.

  • Position manages a team of four direct reports and four indirect reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance

  • Minimum of 8+ years accounting and financial planning experience

  • Proficient with financial modeling, systems, tools including Excel, Hyperion Essbase and SAP

  • CPA, CMA or MBA preferred
