Our location in Waukegan, IL currently has an opportunity for a Event Program Manager .

The IT Event Program Manager will play a key role ensuring that all corporate and executive events are planned and executed effectively from a technical perspective. This is an IT role that will partner with corporate executive and service functions and will have visibility all the way up to the C Suite. You will work closely with all Executive meeting stakeholders, (i.e. Creative Networks, I.R. Exec teams, etc.). This person will also be the conduit to any IT need and/or proactive support for any and all Executive level events.


  • Develops and executes all necessary logistics for multiple corporate meetings, conferences from a technical level.

  • Execute meetings from planning through execution, assuming IT responsibility for monitoring and issue remediation.

  • Serve as primary point of contact for executive/leadership seeking technical assistance, guidance, configuration, and support needs.

  • Develops and maintains meeting stakeholder and IT staff relationships.

  • This role is critical to the success of meetings and events that help to advance the relationships that Abbott has with its’ employees, customers, shareholders, and media.

  • Determines and plans detailed meeting IT logistics (i.e. technical requirements, room set-up, function times, audio visual, menu selections, on-site/off site events and activities, DMC operations, special events, VIP technical needs, etc.).

  • Manages a yearly calendar of events.

  • Develops and manages “playbooks” for each event. This includes pre and post event, on-site escalation, KPIs, RCAs, etc.

  • Initiates meeting stakeholder contact and engages appropriate team members.

  • Prepares budget as necessary and communicates budgetary information to meeting stakeholder throughout planning and execution.



  • College Degree – IT, Business, Services (i.e. Hospitality, etc.) or related.

  • Minimum 6 years corporate IT, and/or meeting planning, marketing and/or hospitality experience.

  • Technical background in meeting collaboration tools IE. Webex, Zoom, Microsoft Teams etc…

  • Experience in customer-facing roles.

  • Experience working will all levels of management.

  • Highly accountable, anticipatory and expects and insists on delivery of “white glove” customer service and an overall flawless customer experience.

  • Ability to build and maintain working relationships with external meeting stakeholders.

  • Ability to quickly adapt to and learn new technology interfaces.

  • Ability to think outside the box and tap into creative solutions for meeting stakeholder needs.

  • Effective time management skills with a strong ability to manage multiple projects and timetables.


  • PMP and/or CMP or equivalent industry certification
