PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION
Abbott is seeking a Patent Administrator to work in the Patent Department, providing general and patent clerical support for two or more attorneys.
CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drafting all types of patent-related documents and forms, as well as varied correspondence, memos, and presentations.
Drafting and filing of information disclosure statements, declarations, powers of attorney and assignment documents, as well as documents required for patent prosecution outside the United States.
Managing patent attorney prosecution dockets to ensure all deadlines met.
Assisting with tracking the contract and FTO processes within the Patent function, which may require communication with the business and legal personnel.
Assisting with Patent Review Committee meetings and the reports arising therefrom; preparing documentation and facilitating patent portfolio reviews.
Managing attorney schedules, coordinating meetings, conferences, and group events.
Processing invoices, maintaining informational spreadsheets, generating reports, and providing backup support to Administrative Assistant as necessary.
3-6 years previous admin or equivalent experience, with generally 1 - 2 years of relevant patent experience.
Prefer some knowledge of the national and international patent filing procedures.
Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must have excellent computer skills, prioritization and attention to detail.
Must be able to meet all deadlines in order to prevent loss of intellectual property rights.
Must be able to work under pressure and work in a team environment requiring collaboration and communication.
Preferably able to navigate and use IP systems including IP Master/Manager, and PTO websites.
Proficient using Excel and PowerPoint, optimally also familiar with Visio.
