SENIOR SPECIALIST, PROCUREMENT

Design and develop electrical designs for medical products to improve margin and reduce risk, including components life cycle management. Utilize tools, including Should Cost, Orcad, Solidworks, Labview, IHS, SiliconExpert, and Microsoft tools, to create and test electrical designs and perform cost analyses and models to support strategic procurement of materials and components. Provide technical support for electronic component life cycle management and improvements. Provide technical expertise in support of unplanned production issues, such as obsolescence, Supplier Change Request (SCR), and quality. Support Corrective Action/Preventative Action (CAPA) process and root cause investigations as production issues occur. Evaluate, recommend and support qualification of alternate electronic components based on market availability and engineering specifications. Drive value-added value engineering (VAVE) projects, including technical and commercial feasibility analyses of on-market medical products. Specify, design, verify and validate new electrical designs in accordance with applicable medical regulatory standards by utilizing knowledge of general engineering principles, regulations, and design controls and quality system management for medical device development, including cGMPs, ISO:13485, IEC 60601, UL/CE standards, and FDA 21 CFR Part 820. Design and create schematics, Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layouts, Gerber files, assemblies & assembly drawings, and design files and release into document control system utilizing knowledge of embedded firmware design, PCB assembly processes, and related design and simulation tools. Develop product specifications and design Failure Modes Effects Analyses (FMEAs), Designs of Experiments (DOEs), and validation protocols. Participate in cross-functional teams and technical design reviews for electrical designs and product design and requirements documents and ensure that electrical designs and test equipment meet all applicable standards. Collaborate with cross functional team members to develop negotiation strategies and deliver procurement savings. Partner with R&D to develop Design for Cost and Design to Value models for new components and/or high-level assemblies. Assess internally manufactured components and/or assemblies for Make vs. Buy assessments. Perform complex tear down analyses and competitive benchmarking of diagnostics and medical devices class I, II and III, and provide comparative assessments and improvement opportunities.

Master’s or foreign equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or in a closely related engineering field of study (Will accept a Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of progressive professional experience in lieu of a Master’s degree) each alternative requirement with at least 3 years of experience in: (i) utilizing knowledge of general engineering principles, regulations, and design controls and quality system management for medical device development, including cGMPs, ISO:13485, IEC 60601, UL/CE standards, and FDA 21 CFR Part 820; (ii) supporting Corrective Action/Preventative Action (CAPA) process and root cause investigations; (iii) utilizing tools, including Should Cost, Orcad, Solidworks, Labview, IHS, SiliconExpert, and Microsoft tools; (iv) designing Failure Modes Effects Analyses (FMEAs), Designs of Experiments (DOEs), and validation protocols; and (v) designing and creating schematics and Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layouts utilizing knowledge of embedded firmware design, PCB assembly processes, and related design and simulation tools. Employer will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience. An EOE. 40 hrs/wk. (8:00 A.M to 5:00 P.M.); $100,000 - $110,000 per year. Must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States.
