Corporate Financial Services is recruiting a (Senior) Financial Analyst for Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC) in Alameda, CA.

The Abbott Diabetes Care Division (ADC) Corporate Financial Services (CFS) Sr. Financial Analyst will be responsible for supporting the successful delivery of monthly/quarterly global consolidated financial results for ADC which represents $1.4 billion in net sales. This role is also responsible for the month-end close process, Sarbanes Oxley testing, and interactions with audit and tax, while ensuring strong and effective financial controls are in place and executed.

In addition to formal financial processes, this individual will be responsible for ad-hoc requests and will interact with finance professionals across all towers, organizations, and senior management.

More Specifically, the (Senior) Financial Analyst is responsible for:

  • Preparation of monthly and ad hoc journal entries within Cadency and HFM

  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet account reconciliations

  • Working with Shared Services teams on specific inputs and providing guidance when required during the monthly close process

  • Working with manager to provide support when necessary for both internal and external audits

  • Assist in performing annual SOX testing activities for ADC division

  • Preparation of monthly reporting packages submitted to Corporate Financial Reporting

  • Participation in monthly meetings with divisional Area and local Finance heads for understanding of monthly financial results

  • Providing systemic support for systems such as HFM, SAP, SRM, and Cadency to business partners

  • Updating budgetary and financial approvals on a monthly basis based upon inputs from ADC FP&A partners

  • When necessary, being able to advise financial partners on Corporate financial policies and procedures to ensure divisional adherence

  • Proactively supporting CFS and ADC division with analytical support

  • Participating in CFS initiatives for enhancement of processes and financial effectiveness

  • Working with CFS Manager on any technical accounting projects initiated by ADC or at Corporate

  • Providing specific support in the BS, Capital, DSO and DOH planning & reporting activities

  • Monitoring, and implementing controls within the ADC business, to ensure compliance with Abbott policies

  • Assisting Management through ad hoc reports and analysis in order to highlight risks and opportunities and to provide business related insights

  • Working to continually provide process improvements that benefit ADC and CFS

The required competencies/experiences for this Financial Analyst role are:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a Finance/Accounting related discipline. CPA, desirable.

  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience within various General Accounting, Commercial Finance or Audit positions

  • Highly analytical, with an eye for detail but always having in mind the big picture

  • Effective communication skills and understanding how to explain accounting and compliance policies/results to financial leadership

  • Organization & Planning skills: able to work well under pressure and tight deadlines

  • Strong commitment, willing to take ownership of problems

  • Dynamic, motivated team player with a result oriented attitude

  • Must have excellent system skills, aptitude and experience, especially with Excel. Experience with HFM or SAP a plus.
