The Senior Product Manager is a core marketing developer, owner and success driver of the chronic pain therapy portfolio. This is a highly visible role that requires Marketing strategy development and oversight while contributing to and influencing all facets of Sales and Marketing within the division including: Forecasting, Financial and Marketing Plan Development, Sales Materials and Training, Pricing, Materials Management, Business Development, and New Product Development and Introduction.

The Neuromodulation Division, specifically the chronic pain product portfolio grew over 40% in 2017, and is predicted to grow significantly in 2018. Abbott is now the market leader by share and to maintain and grow share additional experienced commercial resources are necessary to construct, execute and manage strategy and execution.

Main Responsibilities

  • The Senior Product Manager will report to the Director, Chronic Pain Therapies, Americas and will have marketing and budget responsibility for the designated products. Success will be measured against sales and margin expectations, sales force competency/knowledge level and market image.

  • The Senior Product Manager will be expected to be responsive and able to directly address questions and requests of senior management.

  • Maintain product expertise for products/franchises, including market sizes/trend share, customer needs and product performance/benefits.

  • Create, develop and execute strategies to increase market size and share.

  • Assist leadership in the progression and development of human capital talent.

  • Provide on-going support of new product development including customer requirements definition, product concept validation, financial analysis, and securing Business Unit commitment through market launch.

  • In support of new product launches, develop marketing plans and execute launch strategies.

  • Create and develop strategies for new product and line extension commercialization.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Science or Engineering. Advanced degree preferred.

  • Eight (8) years of marketing experience with at least five (5) in class II/III medical devices. Surgical experience preferred.

  • Job requires substantial product and program launch acumen, market analysis and advanced communication skills.

  • Global experience is preferred but not required

  • Knowledge/ability to develop and execute a "new" product launch.

  • Requires strong analytical skills as well as written and oral communication skills.

  • Must be able to understand technical and scientific information.

  • Must be willing to understand and comply with Regulatory requirements.

  • Must be able to influence and motivate individuals from sales, marketing, and other functional areas to drive product sales.

  • Must be able to complete multiple projects simultaneously with tight deadlines.

  • Ability to travel up to 40%.
