Abbott Established Pharmaceutical Division (EPD) is looking for an

Product Stewardship Manager

The job holder is responsible for ensuring EPD compliance with regulations and internal standards in scope of the Product Stewardship (PS) such as EU REACH, EPR, China MEP, Conflict Minerals, Dangerous Goods Transportation, Hazard Communication, etc.. In this function you act as a source of expertise within the Division regarding product and chemical regulations and maintains a Divisional program with clear program elements, goals/priorities and resources.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manages multiple, often concurrent, Product Stewardship (PS) projects for developing and implementing strategy with the sites and/or with the other EPD functions, interface with consultants, and Corporate PS

  • Develops and maintains the PS Strategic Planning Process including annual evaluation of effectiveness and compliance of the PS program through self-assessment, risk assessments, product and regulatory changes

  • Identify emerging regulations or new requirements impacting EPD products or chemicals used by EPD sites, communicate to the other EPD functions and ensure actions are put in place.

  • Executes a PS program that includes Corporate requirements and EPD specific requirements and is aligned with EPD priorities.

  • Coordinate data collection from suppliers and TPMs (e.g. Product composition, Conflict Minerals form, Compliance declarations)

  • Conduct part/product assessments to identify impacts of PS regulations in the supply chain.

  • Support the affiliates with Extended Producer Responsibility reporting.

  • Contributes to the Sustainability program by answering external sustainability surveys and supporting the DJSI application

  • Complete EHS sections of the SDS, maintain the SDS inventory for APIs and Finished products and update the sites on new EEL’s.

  • Answer DG requests from sites.

  • Maintain Compounds of Potential Environmental Risk (CoPER) list

  • Participate in ADHC as a member.

  • Communicates across functions and disciplines, and presents data to management.

  • Represents the Division as primary PS contact and interacts with both senior management and external personnel on significant PS matters

  • Track company, industry and regulatory activities to ensure effective PS compliance.

  • Develops and provides training on the PS program elements, systems or procedures.

  • Assist Corporate in the development and implementation of PS procedures.

  • Develop long range plan to support PS strategy, considering long term goals and PS continuous improvement.

  • Contribute to the ChemLeg (Industry Peer Group) activities by providing input for the advocacy documents, sharing experience and best practices on chemical regulations and restricted substances

Your profile

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in EHS, Engineering, science, or equivalent technical experience plus demonstrated competence with 8+ years of EHS experience.

  • A post-graduate education / degree is desired, and may contribute towards the desired years of experience.

  • Works independently.

  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment.

  • Develops scenarios to give management a set of viable alternatives and recommends actions.

  • Decisions or recommendations would result in achievement of key organizational objectives and compliance.

  • Drives functional performance that meets required standards and regulatory compliance.
