We are seeking an experienced, high caliber Senior Electrical Engineer to apply electrical engineering knowledge and skills to the design and development of mechanical circulatory support systems and related applications.

Impact this role will have:
Design and development of analog and digital circuits, including sensors, motor/solenoid drivers, power supplies, signal acquisition/conditioning, batteries, ESD protection, EMI reduction and micro-controllers
Preparation of requirements documents, design verification and validation documents, FMEA documents, as well as conducting technical design reviews for hardware, firmware and PCBs
Troubleshooting and debugging intermittent system level problems down to root causes with respect to circuit design, firmware, PCB and component failures
Assist with the planning, organization, and execution of projects involving all aspects of electronic and electromechanical systems design and test
Your experience(s), education and knowledge will further expand Abbotts marketplace success:
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with five to eight years of experience or MSEE with three years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with schematic entry and layout tools
Expertise in the use of standard electronic laboratory equipment, such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc.
Strong technical leadership
Strong communication, presentation, and writing skills
Your preferred qualifications and education:
Prefer experience with relevant standards and regulatory requirements (FDA, GMP, ISO, AIMDD, UL, CSA)
Experience with embedded control software (C and/or C++) preferred
Experience with MatLab and SPICE preferred
Familiarity with PCB and PCBA manufacturing processes
Familiarity with battery technologies a plus
Experience with implantable electronics (AICD, PaceMakers, Infusion pumps) a plus
