Main Purpose of the Role:
The primary objective of the role is to continuously optimize cost throughout the product lifecycle to improve profitability. This is accomplished by:
Providing science-based technical solutions to improve product manufacturability
Improving product design, scale-up, and transfer to manufacturing sites
Optimizing design for manufacturability to deliver improved cost, quality, and efficiency
Leading the technical development of material value stream (MVS) programs to deliver margin goals for the division.
Responsible for managing MVS projects or sub-projects, both domestic and international, from beginning to end, with accountability for project execution.
Demonstrate stewardship and provide project technical leadership to meet Division strategies and business objectives
Provide technical leadership to deliver solutions to optimize new and on-market products throughout the product lifecycle.
Identify process issues and recommend improvements to team members and management
Lead or support complex manufacturing issues associated with product transfers
Provide support as required to Program or Portfolio Management within M&P
Additional Main Responsibilities:
Collaborate with cross-functional team in ensuring scope and deliverables are meeting objectives and timelines.
Participate in project technical assessments and development of business cases.
Manage cross-functional project timeline and follow-up with project team members to ensure timely completion of tasks.
Proactively identify and manage project opportunities/ issues/ risks.
Drive for results and timely decision-making.
Manage medium complexity technical projects with cross-functional representation from key functional areas including R&D, Manufacturing, Engineering, Regulatory, and Quality organizations.
Effective, efficient management of technical project scope and deliverables to improve product optimization, design transfer, and manufacturability of on-market products.
Scope of technical projects span across the product lifecycle from product development to manufacturing support of on-market products.
Projects will include bill of material optimization, reformulations, new products, ingredient qualifications, and manufacturing support.
Responsible for identifying critical project issues and risks, and timely communication to senior leadership
Provide cross-functional forecasting, tracking, reporting and oversight on project budget and expenditures
This position will work with moderate supervision and the individual exercises judgment within generally defined processes, procedures and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
Erroneous decisions may result in critical delay(s) in schedules and/or operations.
Bachelor’s degree required in Food Science, Engineering, or Life Sciences with at least 4-6 years of experience in product or process development. Knowledge of product formulations and practical experience in development, transfer, and scale-up to manufacturing is essential for this technical project role.
PMP certification desired, or 2-4 years of project management experience
Demonstrated skills in collaborating and influencing cross-functionally
Critical thinker, with strong analytical and problem solving skills
Demonstrated technical leader in problem assessment, evaluation, and resolution through effective project execution.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of product development and manufacturing processes desirable
