Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide primary technical support for Utilities operations and building facilities in troubleshooting and preventative maintenance

  • Conduct estimation, planning and execution of small to medium scale maintenance and investment projects

  • Must be computer literate for proficient operation of the Maintenance Management System and

  • spare parts documentation.

  • Follow factory and department safety rules

  • Perform general and preventive maintenance work including mechanical, 1&3 phase electrical,

  • hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing, and fabrication

  • Install, maintain and repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures

  • While the primary work area is Instrumentation calibration, will provide maintenance support to

  • other areas of the factory

  • Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes and National Electric Code

  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes

  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety of system

  • Work from ladders, scaffolds and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures

  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous

  • Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools and testing equipment including oscilloscopes, ammeters, and test lamps

  • Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports and ordering supplies and equipment

  • Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit and moving/lifting heavy objects

  • Provide assistance during emergencies by operating floodlights and generators, placing flares and driving needed vehicles

  • Conduct preventative maintenance tasks for equipment including UPS back-ups, machine PMs

  • Install and troubleshoot new and modified equipment

  • Monitor and repair facility and emergency system for any equipment failures and maintain smooth operations of waste water treatment

  • Be flexible and work overtime as needed

Accountability:

  • Accountable for the proper diagnosis and repair of plant utility/facilities equipment

  • Errors can result in product spoilage/loss, material loss, equipment repair or replacement, downtime and overtime

  • Accountable for the safety of other employees while operating equipment

  • This position is accountable for complying with applicable FDA (GMP), USDA, OSHA and Abbott/Ross regulations, policies, procedures or guidelines.

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED. Associates Degree in Engineering or related education preferred.

Background/Skills:

  • Five years of experience in electrical/mechanical machine troubleshooting, experience with computers, reading blueprints and schematics

  • Good communication skills and prioritization skills are required

  • Effectively communicate daily issues through documentation, area log books, electronic pass down and verbal communication with peers
