Abbott Vascular in Heerlen is a large, state of the art, supply chain organization responsible for sustaining strong supply chain management for Abbott Vaculars products globally.

For this site, located in Heerlen, we are looking for a new Business Excellence Manager, who will be reporting into the Site Director and will be part of the Site Leadership Team

Purpose of the position

Drives Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement in the site Heerlen. Engages site leadership and employees by assuring and enforcing strong alignment between the business objectives and the projects. Supports achieving the site's gross margin improvement targets and financial goals by driving productivity, cost and cash flow improvements.

The position has direct impact on the ability of the site to meet short and long term objectives for reducing COGS, hence assuring the competitiveness of the site in the network and the market place.

In scope is collaborating with all internal and external partners of the organization to achieve these objectives, while maintaining high service levels and quality.

Core job responsiblities:

  • Share responsibility with site manager on Continuous Improvement target setting and execution. Work closely with Controlling on translating operational performance into financial performance and owns the plan commitments for CIP. Maintain the organization's master plan and the CIP List.

  • Identify gaps and opportunities with an effective data collection and reporting system as well as frequent internal and external benchmarking. Support the development and sharing of good practices within the Abbott Medical Operational Excellence Network.

  • Apply appropriate tools and methods (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma) for any given situation, and guarantee the correct use. Extend the standardized use of these tools and methods across the organization. Cooperate with HR on establishing and driving the change management program.

  • Spread a culture of continuous improvement, supported with strong communication and a local training program reaching the entire target population with tailor made content. Provide coaching, mentoring and training to employees on all levels.

  • Support partners in the Abbott Medical network on their continuous improvement projects.

Profile of the candidate:

  • Bachelors Degree preferably in one of the following disciplines: Business Administration, Controlling, Engineering, Operations, Logistics Management.

  • At least 5 years’ experience in Logistics / Supply Chain

  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma and similar tools and methods are required and essential.

  • Self-starting and able to adapt work priorities in response to complex or changing environment.

  • Highly developed facilitation and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to resolve conflicts and develop win-win relationships with other teams on site and with other organizations in Abbott Medical.

  • Strong leadership skills and track record of driving projects to successful completion, even when operating in matrix organizations, with different support groups with potentially conflicting objectives.

  • Analytical skills to identify root-causes for problems based on data and to highlight gaps compared to defined standards.

  • Demonstrated teaching and coaching skills

  • Good understanding of financial processes and able to establish business cases for projects and programs in cooperation with Controlling and Engineering.

  • Must be available for 10% travel.

  • Must be proficient (written and spoken) in English, and preferably, in Dutch.
