Position in the Reliability Group in New Product Development. Primary responsibility is instrument service, investigations, repair, part replacement, reporting and associated documentation for Alinity instruments. Participate in reliability data management and remediation, reconciliation activities to ensure accuracy and consistency, and elevate new and emerging reliability problems to the Design Team for permanent resolution. Responsibilities include identifying point of failure and service repair actions on reliability instruments. Manage service and expanded MAIC reliability investigations. Participate in design input on proposed solutions. Serve as a liaison for reliability engineering and support areas, suggest quality and process improvements, collaborate with engineers in a team environment to improve instrument reliability. Utilize analytical and engineering skills to identify and reduce/eliminate repeated system failures. Develop personal expertise in various maintenance/reliability functions and acts as subject matter expert as necessary. Needs to be a self-starter able to learn the system design, build strong relationships with design engineers, service professionals, system integration, and reliability testing personnel to ensure thorough and concise documentation of reliability problems and actions needed to resolve them. Clear verbal and writing communication skills via conference call, telephone, IM, email and reports. Able to work a flexible schedule including early morning, second shift and/or weekends. May perform daily maintenance, prepare samples and operate medical instrumentation when needed. Must have a Bachelor of Science or Engineer degree.

Bachelor’s degree required in an engineering/ scientific / technical discipline plus 2 years experience in a related scientific / technical field OR 10 years of practical experience in a manufacturing, testing or technical roles to demonstrate functional equivalence. Advanced degree(s) may offset required years of experience.
Required: Minimum of 2 years experience in a related scientific / technical field. Advanced degree(s) may offset required years of experience.
Preferred: Experience with computer and data management. Experience working in project teams for basic projects or a single complex project. Experience with change control and/or investigation processes and/or laboratory skills. Experience with acquiring, analyzing and interpreting data. Understanding change control impact on design / validation of products and/or processes. Experience in operations (manufacturing/quality). Demonstrated ability to apply operations knowledge in timely resolution of product / process technical issues. Experience mentoring / teaching others to facilitate timely resolution of product / process technical issues. Previous experience with immunoassays, multiple technologies, multiple clinical utilities and Abbott systems. Experience interacting with customers to resolves issues. Knowledge of experimental design and statistical tools.
