Abbott Project Manager - R&D, Lab Automation in Irving, Texas

Main Purpose of Role:

  • Manage 1 or more projects with moderate complexity. Expedite, manage, and coordinate a multitude of interrelated activities within constraints of limited human and financial resources and changing priorities. Complies with quality system.

  • Recognize the broader implications of actions and proposals on the final project outcome

  • Prepare and present project progress reports to keep management and team informed. Identify problems and work to resolve them.

  • Analyze date for true causes of problems.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate input from multiple areas or multiple project managers on related projects.

  • Develop project objectives and strategies, develop timelines and milestones. Utilize project scheduling software to plan and track projects. Develop design and development plan.

  • Identify resource requirements, cost, and time schedules. Develop an implementation plan, conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans to accommodate unforeseen events.

  • Translate project goals into project tasks. Define the nature of the stated business or technical problem.

  • Anticipate future problems, resolve current issues, and adjust based on prior results.

Qualifications :

Required Education:

Bachelor’s Degree (± 16 years)

Discipline appropriate to the project

Required Experience:


Minimum 3 years

Experience in project management. Recognized technical skills and judgment appropriate to the project discipline. Basic working knowledge of project management tools and processes.

Preferred Experience, Education, etc.:

  • Experience with Part Number Strategies and Part Data Management (APLM, ADMS, SBM).

  • Degree in Engineering Discipline or demonstrated Technical Experience

  • Proficient with MS Office Tools (Excel, MS Project, Vizio, etc)

  • Project Management work experience ideally out of these highly-regulated industries/types of companies: medical device (highly preferred), Defense, Aerospace, Aviation, Food, etc.
