Abbott Product Manager in Istanbul, Turkey

1. Primary Objective of Position

Drives successful, sustainable franchises in the region, ensuring they deliver real value for customers and achieve business targets. Acts as a subject matter expert on the landscape and our products / solutions, and drives the region marketing plan for the franchises. Proactively identifies new opportunities to grow and differentiate the franchises, and collaborates across the organization to effectively develop and launch new products and solutions on time, on budget, and with impact across the region

2. Major Accountabilities

Innovation & Franchise Expansion

  • Proactively manages all aspects of the franchises in the Region, evolving to stay ahead of the market and keep relevant to all target audiences

  • Has deep knowledge of the products / solutions in the portfolio and acts as a subject matter expert, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues across the Region

  • Is highly knowledgeable about the Region market landscape, including the competitive offerings and strategy

  • Rigorously hunts for and finds new ideas to expand the portfolio or to create differentiation in the Region

  • Confidently builds strong business cases for new ideas and sells ideas internally, working closely with Global and Area

  • Develops forecasts and targets for the franchises in the Region, and actively manages / is responsible for their achievement

  • Supports and coaches country teams to deliver the franchise goals, building their capabilities

Marketing Strategy & Planning

  • Contributes to the long term global franchise portfolio strategy and uses it to guide decision making and the Region strategy

  • Drives the overall development and execution of the Region marketing plan for the franchises, ensuring the right people across global, area and region are engaged, and it reflects global choices and local insights and requirements

  • Anticipates challenges and risks, using proactive contingency and scenario planning

  • Influences and trains sales teams and Region leaders to ensure strategy and plan are understood / actioned

  • Actively tracks & shares progress toward goals, adapting where required

Launch Excellence

  • Has strong experience launching new solutions in an agile, efficient way

  • Engages and influences Global, R&D, regulatory etc. to set and meet launch timings, budgets and approaches in the Region

  • Effectively forecasts impact of launches for the Region, and gains alignment on targets with the business

  • Drives the development of Region launch plans, ensuring they are relevant, realistic and robust – and reflect Region customer / market insights

  • Ensures alignment with the launch plan across the Region, and that the right resources are deployed

  • Uses excellent project management skills and collaboration to flawlessly execute and manage against launch plans, and supporting country teams to execute effectively

  • Proactively engages sales teams to identify requirements for a successful launch – then partners to make it happen

  • Effectively tracks and takes responsibility for the impact of launches and course corrects where required

Measurement & Financial Acumen

  • Effectively manages the budget for the franchises in the Region

  • Analyzes multiple external data points to identify risks to achieving goals, and identifies contingency plans/ options

  • Analyzes historical trends and models future growth to develop long-term forecasts

  • Accurately predicts the financial impact of competitor actions and our programs across the Region

  • Identifies opportunities for cost improvement and pricing changes

  • Takes responsibility for achieving targets / growing the business in the Region

  • Coaches country teams to set clear performance metrics for programs and regularly tracks performance

Insight & Foresight

  • Identifies & prioritizes relevant target audiences for the franchises in the Region, including C-suite, laboratories, hospitals, reference labs, governments, etc.

  • Skilled at proactively anticipating. gathering and synthesizing information on our targets, competitors and the market from a range of formal and informal sources; seeks out and encourages others to find new sources of understanding

  • Proactively shares insights with others across the business and applies insights consistently to meaningfully differentiate our franchises

  • Works with others to provide conclusions and key actions based on insight

Customer Engagement & Execution

  • Works closely with the sales team to understand their needs, ensure they believe in the franchise vision /strategy, and equip them to effectively engage with our customers; develops tailored programs for accounts to support the franchises

  • Has experience in reimbursement regulations in the Region and designs marketing actions and communication to grow the franchises in a highly regulated environment

  • Uses a test-and-learn approach to try out different ways of connecting with our customers

Brand Building

  • Understands the importance of brand positioning and the role of insight in driving it

  • Provides analysis and support for the development of franchise positioning as required

  • Helps create effective messaging for sales teams to support them to deliver the franchise positioning

  • Executes activities in the market in line with the franchise positioning and monitors how well they are being implemented in the Region

  • Can brief an agency, with team support, and evaluate work based on objectives & positioning

  • Familiar with a range of media channels and can help choose which are appropriate given objectives/target

  • Develops the tactics and execution to support the franchises

3. Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably with MBA

  • Product Management, Marketing Management experience in healthcare is preferred
