Position Summary:

  1. Ensure adequate financial and system controls are established and maintained consistent

with Abbott policies

and procedures as well as generally accepted accounting principles.

  1. Develop accurate and consistent financial data and present such data in a clear and concise

manner thereby

enhancing the management decision making process.

  1. Ensure protection and proper use of company assets. Promote and maintain compliance with

Abbott policies and procedures and external requirements (e.g., Sarbanes-Oxley).

  1. Provide all financial planning, analysis and accounting support to the Global Abbott Nutrition

Supply Chain Organization overall to achieve strategic and day-to-day business objectives.

  1. Provide financial leadership, business expertise and guidance to VP Nutrition Global Supply

Chain and his staff with a particular focus on supporting the AN objective of significant Gross

Margin improvement.

Primary Function:

  1. Set the appropriate financial direction ensuring the proper reflection of financial results and forecasts, and ensuring the functionality, accuracy, and security of entity assets.

  2. Provide proper reporting, analysis and follow-up of actual financial results for the Global Abbott Nutrition & Supply Chain Org.

  3. Coordinate, consolidate, and manage the development of Plans/Updates for the Abbott Nutrition Supply Chain Org. including standards (TPM's), capital, expense budgets, and headcount.

  4. Working in conjunction with Supply Chain Management, develop and implement financial and operational measurement tools (KPIs) focusing on productivity and customer services improvements.

  5. Ensure compliance to all relevant CFM policies and procedures for financial systems.

  6. Ensure compliance with free trade zone, customs, duties, and foreign exchange laws and regulations.

  7. Function as primary financial support to VP Global Supply Chain.

  8. Provide leadership, direction, guidance, and development to Global Supply Chain Financial staff.

  9. Provide financial support to ANI/RPD overall and to the DVP and Controller – ANI/RPD.

  10. Serve in leadership capacity and key as a contributor in strategy development and all aspects of execution for Manufacturing Network Optimization programs, Gross Margin Improvement, Program Management projects with particular emphasis on supporting emerging market expansion strategies, and Global Inventory initiatives. This position reports directly to VP, Abbott Nutrition Supply Chain.

Main Responsibilities:

Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system. Review batch records for critical data and post summary to the complaints database. Calculate In-Process and Finished Product TPM batches and other products as needed. Update the valid combination files associated with the Master Work Order that includes inputting and formatting the correct data into the Batch Calculation program. Review updates to the Sturgis Plant Control Procedures and implement changes. Maintain and track changes to the Quality Systems Job Aids. Monitor and track the departments training requirements including: QA Required, New Hires/Transfers, On-the-Job, Safety, GMP, and other training as directed by Management. Conduct new hire orientation. Track and follow up on outstanding change request approvals. Coordinate projects, complete COAs, and provide back up to Documents Coordinators. Train back up for primary responsibilities, i.e.

  • Complaints and TPM Batch Calculation.

  • Assist Supervisor as business needs dictate.

Major Responsibilities (Batch Records Side): Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.

Direct/guide the daily workflow based upon batch release priorities.

Batch audit: Review work orders for completeness and compliance to all Abbott policies, procedures,

IOP/Deviation requirements and Government regulations.

Initiate and/or review ER’s, SQE’s and PIR’s prior to routing to Supervisor for disposition.

Follow up on all issues to assure each is researched prior to submission of work order to Supervision.

Ensure work orders, ER’s, SQE’s, Discrepancies and Alert levels are entered into the RBA system.

Use of CAMBAR and Amaps to adjust/obtain/perform release status for specific batches.

Audit and maintain records for non-batch log related items (i.e.: Tank Temps, CIP charts.).

Review and Release Oil Blends.

Back up Batch Records Coordinators with the following tasks:

· Ensure holds and isolations have been initiated and address as required and verify all sort/destruct issues are completed and documented in work order.

· Responsible for the generation of weekly, quarterly and annual reports and data retrieval.

Identify and communicate with manufacturing personnel and management any issues or discrepancies that may require work order changes.

Ensure completion of COA’s for Abbott Intl. and DQA.

Provide support for data collection, i.e.: PQA lab, Engineering and DQA.

Expedite batch review when asked by Division to meet consumers demands.

Assist supervisor as business needs dictate.

Document and occasionally lead Batch Auditor Meetings.

On occasion, may provide administrative support to PQA manager and staff, including but not limited to: · Data input and tracking and trending QA data, stats, test results, product pathway protection listing · Develop presentations for QA staff.

Accountability / Scope/Budget:

This position will work under the direction of the Quality Systems Supervisor or Manager.

This position is independent but in many instances, will provide direction and guidance as well as be a resource to others within the department.


Education: Bachelors’ degree in a technical field preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required. Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritionals.

a. Some knowledge of the manufacturing process including Analytical Processing and Filling preferred.

b. Proficient in computer applications.

c. Ability to analyze and trouble shoot.

d. Must have strong communication and writing skills.

e. Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines for complaints, TPM batches, and projects, etc.

f. Certification of Low Acid Food processes.
