National Sales Manager

Reports to Business Unit Manager

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Investigates, recommends and manages new business opportunities and new product introductions. Introduces, through appropriate regulatory frameworks, new products which contribute to a long term growth in the markets.

  • Identifies best in class partners for Product; recommends and finds replacement partners in markets where we can strengthen our current business operations.

  • Promotes product portfolio to surgeons, opinions leaders, hospitals, clinics and other groups. His/Her objectives are annually determined according to corporate strategies.

  • Develops strong commercial relationships, gives sound marketing, product and strategic advice to our partners in order to grow market share and sales in the markets.

  • Develops and maintains strong relationships internal partner (Market Access team, Commercial Department, Medical, Marketing teams) and with key customers, opinion leaders, associations in order to identify changing needs and areas for commercial development

  • Leads in the development of quantitative service level goals for the product line and customer base. Translates market and product knowledge into increasingly accurate forecasts.

  • Provides input to the product portfolio strategic plan and has budget/forecast responsibility for his/her area of responsibility.

  • Recruitment, development and management of a team of successful medical representatives and product managers within the relevant area.

Expected Performance Standards

  • Deliver sales results within budget and other IMPACT GOAL requirements

  • Maintain full, highest quality sales force, coaching them to improve performance

  • Understand Abbott corporate (not merely local) standards and develop staff to meet or exceed them

  • Prepare quality reports and submit on time

  • Look for ways to improve productivity through implementing new systems or streamlining existing systems.

  • Work with other colleagues and departments to find most effective way of increasing sales through strategic cooperation and/or improving productivity (e.g. improvement/simplification of reporting procedures)
