Abbott Rapid Diagnostics (formerly Alere) Abbott Rapid Diagnostics Orlando site is part of Global Business Services (GBS). The SeniorAccountant is a key member of the finance team supporting the consolidation and reporting of monthly results. This team member will work closely with all operational aspects of the business to support day-to-day and month end accounting functions with quality, accuracy and integrity. This individual will own delegated accounts and have an intimate understanding of the financial statements produced to ensure compliance. The role will be challenged to seek, propose, and drive process improvements across their related areas of responsibilities. The ideal candidate is someone who approaches tasks with an innovative, service-oriented mindset, and utilizes in-depth understanding of accounting principles, and company practices to achieve results.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparation and review ofconsolidated financial statements ensuring accuracy and completeness whileidentifying andresearching trends/variances

  • Prepares and reviews journal entries

  • Deep understanding of financialaccounting concepts

  • Partners with internal customers to gaincomprehensive business knowledge within Abbott Rapid Diagnostics

  • Conduct and document complex financialprocesses

  • Interprets results autonomously using avariety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation viastatistical analysis to complex data mining

  • Understands data validation techniques

  • Regularly ensures that reportingdelivered to internal customers is accurate, rich in actionable contentand useful

  • Liaison with leaders and presentfinancial reporting on various requests related to variances, cause ofchanges, or current business needs

  • Support ad hoc analysis and specialprojects on an as needed basis

  • Makes recommendations based on analysisand status of reserves, assets, and expenditures

  • Reviews journal entries of junior staffensuring accuracy

  • Trains and mentors’ junior staff

  • Owns, supports, analyzes, and preparesassigned account reconciliations

  • Assists with financial and tax audits

  • Aids in documenting and monitoringcontrols to support audit team

  • Coordinates complex accounting projectsand initiatives with other members of the finance team and/or otherdepartments

REQUIREMENTS

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degreein Accounting, or related required, CPA or MBA a plus

  • 5+ years Accounting experience required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with SAP preferred

  • Business Analytics tool experience a plus

  • Advanced experience in Excel and proficiency with Microsoft OfficeSuite (Outlook, Access, Word, Powerpoint

  • Excellent attention to detail, well-organized, and highlyaccountable

  • Exceptional analytical insight, prioritization, and problem-solvingskills

  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with limitedguidance

  • Self motivated, action oriented individual with the perseverance topush high value projects through to completion

  • Developed time management and priority setting skills required towork in an often ambiguous and constantly changing business environment

  • Demonstrated ability to succinctly present complex analysis to alllevels within the organization
