The Clinical Inventory Specialist supports the clinical execution team in managing clinical inventory for studies utilizing product that does not have regulatory approval. Supports study teams in inventory setup, monitors product levels at warehouses/consigned locations and monitors product expirations. Provides training, guidance and support for product orders, returns, transfers, and expirations. Provides data regarding device usage for regulatory reporting. Able to solve complex problems; considers alternative or new perspectives using existing tools and standard processes.

Essential Functions:

  1. Provides clinical study teams with data regarding device usage for regulatory reporting. 2. In conjunction with clinical study team, ensures appropriate device inventory levels at the beginning of and throughout the course of the clinical study.

  2. Serves as a liaison to both in house study teams, and field clinical personnel regarding inventory transactions, usage, and storage.

  3. Assists in setup of appropriate investigational inventory in SAP system and Clinical Inventory Management system.

  4. Assists clinical study team in providing oversight of device invoicing and expiration.

  5. Communicates with Customer Service, Regulatory Operations, and our Distribution Centers to trouble shoot as needed.

  6. Provides training as needed regarding inventory management systems and processes.

Other Duties:

  1. Develops an understanding of current clinical regulations and common industry practices with regards to inventory management, and seeks continuing education about Abbott devices and therapies.

  2. Manages small projects and process improvement efforts that are critical to help support departmental

goals and objectives concerning inventory management.

  1. Attends both individual study team and cross functional program management group meetings.

  2. Some travel may be required 5%

  3. May occasionally support tasks outside normal business hours (urgent access to restricted devices, meetings with teams outside the U.S. time zones).

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor degree from an accredited university or college. Preferably with anacademic focus in natural science, pre-medicine, nursing, bioengineering, or a related academic field.

  • Minimum two years clinical research experience.

  • Must have demonstrated strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, presentation, analytical, organizational, technical writing, and problem solving skills.

  • Able to interpret clinical data, meet deadlines and work effectively with all levels of employees.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant clinical applications.

  • The ability to work independently when necessary.

  • The ability to exchange straightforward information, ask questions, and check for understanding.

  • Work habits include organization, coordination of many tasks, accuracy, and attention to detail.

Desired: Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree preferred with an academic focus in natural science, nursing, bioengineering or a related academic field.

  • Experience in customer service, SAP, device transactions, and pre-market studies preferred.

  • An understanding of all aspects of clinical research.

  • A general familiarity with cardiac, vascular, and/or neuromodulation technologies.

  • Previous related experience in research within a clinical or corporate setting or relevant clinical experience in a clinical/hospital environment.
