  • Leads financial planning and analysis in support of the Clinical Trials for the Global Clinical Affairs and Global Clinical Operations organizations.

  • Develops the financial forecasts known as the Rolling Latest Best Estimates (RLBE) and RLBE Confirmations (RLBEC) in accordance with the schedules and guidelines issued by management. Ensures all activities, headcount, operating expenses, and projects are planned for and updated appropriately each planning cycle. Supports the budget owners and assists with planning tools and training on the systems used for forecasting. Reviews and challenges budget owner submissions. Prepares an analysis of the variances to the prior forecast and provides explanations for material differences. Prepares an executive summary bridge of the changes for each DVP and for management. Prepares presentation schedules, charts, and analysis for review meetings.

  • Reviews journal postings to the cost centers in the organizations supported each month. Prepares journal entries to insure proper expense recognition and liability balances. Prepares an analysis of the actual results and variances to budget each month. Meets with leadership to review variances and determine corrective action if needed. Keeps well informed on the activities and projects ongoing in the organizations supported in order to understand budget needs and advise on planning or challenge assumptions in the forecasts.

  • Directs and supervises personnel engaged in planning, budgeting, and financial analysis activities for the organizations supported. Responsible for hiring, training, and retaining a highly qualified staff and for providing career coaching, growth and personal development. Accountable for the performance of subordinates. Maintains a safe working environment and a strong customer focus. Models optimum leadership competencies to inspire an energized, empowered and accountable work force.

  • Reviews proposed project capital for both financial reasonableness and compatibility with the Divisions operating plan to assure adherence to financial objectives.

  • Assists with the strategic direction of the Global Clinical Affairs and Global Clinical Operations organizations, focusing on customer satisfaction and continuous process improvement.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, a related field, or equivalent.

  • Typically a minimum of eight plus years of progressively more responsible financial or budgeting experience in a large, publicly held organization.

  • Seasoned judgment acquired through local organizational experience and achievement in applying state-of-the-art financial/budgeting principles.

  • Requires highly developed leadership skills/experience sufficient to assume the responsibilities of this management position, including the ability to map task interdependencies, prioritize such tasks, and develop, monitor and live within budgets as well as the demonstrated ability to forecast major milestones.

  • Must be skilled at delegation, follow-up, and team building as well as a history of being able to multi-task and meet multiple project schedules on time.

  • Documented record of delivering accurate financial information that adds value to management’s decision making process.

  • Must be able to demonstrate advanced personal computer skills including experience with relevant financial systems/applications, financial modeling, word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).

Your preferred qualifications and education:

  • An advanced credential in a relevant discipline/concentration, such as a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

  • Demonstrated familiarity/experience with a Multidimensional Database Management System (MDBMS) such as Hyperion Essbase.
