We are seeking an experienced, high caliber Microelectronics Packaging Engineer. Responsible for developing new manufacturing processes, equipment and materials for use in production of medical devices. Works on process engineering problems of diverse scope. Exercises judgment and defines methods and criteria in conducting process engineering experiments and reports results. Develops networks with internal/external working relationships in area of expertise.

Impact this role will have on Abbott:
Specify, design, verify and validate new manufacturing processes and equipment, in accordance with applicable medical regulatory standards.
Develops process/product specifications, conduct pFMEAs, DOEs, validation protocols/reports and other associated documentation following design control requirements through completion.
Evaluates process and design alternatives based on “design for manufacturability” principles.
Maintains knowledge of new developments in manufacturing and design technologies.
Utilize tools like Gage R&R, Cp, Cpk and SPC to develop, characterize and improve processes.
Troubleshoots process equipment and perform process optimization.
Creation and management of engineering changes, protocols and reports within the document control system (currently TcE & Windchill).
Communicate effectively and participate on cross functional development teams.
Understand work environment issues (i.e. OSHA regulations, etc.).
Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.
Your Experience(s), education and knowledge will further expand Abbott’s marketplace success:
Packaging Engineering, Materials or Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
3-5 years experience in microelectronics assembly/packaging. Medical device experience preferred.
Understanding of FDA, GMP, and ISO guidelines.
Minitab experience a plus.
Requires excellent organization, problem solving, and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Strong understanding of manufacturing operations environment.
Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
Ability to travel approximately 10%, including internationally.
