We are seeking a high caliber Software Manager. This position requires a flexible forward thinking individual with a strong motivation to develop, mentor and manage a team of 4-6 highly experienced and skilled software engineers. This person will lead development activities for the EnSite Precision Cardiac Mapping System and Workmate Claris Recording System (FDA Class II, near-real time medical device software). They will support direct reports by providing focused technical guidance and functional leadership. This position will report to a Senior Manager, Software.

The individual chosen for this position must have a proven track record of working cooperatively in small to medium sized groups, as a member of a distributed team and across functional boundaries with representatives from other functional groups including Quality, Marketing, Post Market Surveillance and Test. Good communication skills, both oral and written, are a must for this position.

Required Education & Experience

  • 7 or more years experience in software development, including the following:

  • Within Agile software development using SCRUM, SAFe or similar methodology

  • As a developer and/or technical lead

  • As a people manager including development planning, performance reviews and other typical manager activities

  • BS in Engineering, preferably in Computer Science or Software Engineering

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, guide and develop employees to achieve their highest potential

  • Experience measuring, reporting and designing for quality related metrics

  • Strong analytical, problem solving skills

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written and spoken form

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in Engineering, preferably in Computer Science or Software Engineering

  • Previous experience in a regulated industry, preferably medical devices.

  • Knowledge of QSR, ISO/EN and Quality Systems standards (e.g., 62304, TIR-45, etc)

  • Background in software process improvement techniques, e.g., team software process (TSP), defect density analysis, orthogonal defect classification, cyclomatic complexity analysis, function point analysis

  • Development experience with one or more of the following: C++, multi-threading, real-time data handling, TCP/IP communications, message bus implementation, unit test development, Qt, QML, Linux/Unix, GUI development, database administration (SQLite and MySQL)
