An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dedicated Senior Manager - Health Economics and Reimbursement within Abbott Medical, to support our expanding businesses within Abbott’s Cardiovascular and Neuromodulation businesses in Australia and New Zealand.
The main aspects of this role include:
Lead Health Economics and Reimbursement (HE&R) shared service supporting Abbott’s Cardiovascular and Neuromodulation businesses in Australia and New Zealand.
Ensure optimal and timely pricing and reimbursement of Abbott technologies.
Develop and maintain collaborative strategic relationships with the federal government, policy makers, stakeholders from the healthcare administration, hospital groups, private health insurers and the public health system.
Promote Abbott technologies through a one ‘face to the customer‘ working closely with the Leadership Team and Sales and Marketing teams in each Business Unit in strategic planning to achieve Company goals
Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the ANZ Organisation through leadership and active participation as a member of the ANZ Leadership Team.
Develop and execute the Market Access strategies for Abbott technology innovations in close collaboration with country leadership and business, regional and global HE&R leadership.
Pro-actively monitor and contribute to shaping the environment for med tech market access and funding in ANZ.
Prepare clinical and economic evidence to support reimbursement and pricing submissions to the relevant funding authorities.
Manage the reimbursement function to ensure appropriate and timely reimbursement of Abbott products and successful introductions of new technology.
Contribute with inputs towards clinical and economic evidence development in support of present and long-term reimbursement and market access needs in ANZ.
Develop Abbott’s health economics and pricing strategy bearing in mind global & regional plans as well as local considerations.
Negotiate prices for new Abbott technologies and justify price increases (or maintenance) for existing Abbott technologies with the government.
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with health insurers to ensure funding of Abbott technologies.
Liaise with Industry/Government working parties in collaboration with Govt. Affairs and others as needed, and seek to influence future trends in the areas of health policy, reimbursement systems, health economics, HTA.
Identify and recommend new business opportunities specifically related to priority Abbott technologies eligible for government subsidies.
Work with sales and marketing to prepare and deliver presentations to key stakeholders regarding Abbott products.
Manage development of appropriate local health economic tools and liaise with Global HE&R to adapt models and programs appropriately to the local market.
Manage and maintain strategic relationships with Consumer and Advocacy Groups.
Serve as Abbott’s representative on relevant industry committees. E.g. MTAA.
In addition to the above, the relevant experience is required:
Experience of working on clinical and economic evidence synthesis including inputs to clinical trial design to support reimbursement strategy and submissions
Experience developing and maintaining collaborative strategic relationships with government, political and administrative stakeholders, hospital groups, private health insurers, and the public health system.
A successful record of operating at a mid to senior level in an organisation.
Established knowledge of the medical industry.
Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, economics, epidemiology or similar. Post graduate training in health economics preferred.
Minimum of 7 years’ experience working in the medical devices, healthcare or pharmaceutical industry.
