Summary:

We are seeking a high caliber and ambitious Category Manager to join our team in Abbott Medical Devices. This position will be responsible for a greater than $50Million in spend in the Electronics components category globally and take on more spend based on performance. Opportunity to deliver is very high and this will be a good fit for a candidate that is self-driven and results oriented. Open to location preference.

Key Responsibilities:

  • This position is responsible for establishing, articulating, and implementing sourcing strategies for major spend categories, suppliers or geographic regions. This position is responsible for obtaining program buy-in from various stakeholder organizations. Create and manage the project plan, identify the resources to support projects, drive multiple projects through complex sourcing process and ensure end results meet the requirements of all organizations impacted.

  • Develop or possess a depth of knowledge in spend vertical. Develop or possess the analytical abilities to gather, analyze and establish spend baselines as a starting point for each sourcing process. In addition, they must possess the analytical abilities to perform analyses of the spend data, market data and the various supplier proposals, in order to yield fact based decisions that address the requisite needs of the key stakeholders for the spend under evaluation.

  • Responsible for delivering successful cross-divisional sourcing projects that yield significant benefit to the corporation including. savings, re-engineered business procedures, sustainable long term agreements and risk mitigating supply strategies.

  • Holds the team accountable for key results. evaluates milestone achievement and addresses issues through appropriate channels. Communicates with management and key stakeholder groups effected by the teams sourcing decisions.

  • Knowledge of and skilled approach to execution of the negotiation process including usage of information, best-of-breed practice and deal closure

  • Properly convert the negotiated deals to performance based, legally sound contracts that serve as a guide for on-going supplier management and program sustainability that may transition the contracts to Purchasing Agents for on-going site management.

Your experience(s), education and knowledge will further expand Abbott’s marketplace success:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or equivalent

  • 6+ years of progressively responsible experience in purchasing/commodity management

  • Strong experience in negotiating terms in purchasing agreements

  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment

  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment

  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization

  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner

  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail

  • Ability to travel approximately up to 20%, including internationally
