Abbott Technical Manufacturing Process Engineer II in Syracuse, New York

The position of TechnicalManufacturing Engineer II is within our Infectious Disease Developed Markets business unit located in Auburn, NY. In this role you will support manufacturing processes improvements, quality/cost savings initiatives while assuring compliance with cGMP, quality and safety standards.

Hours: Thursday- Monday 6am-2pm

This job description will be reviewed periodically and is subject to change by management.


  • Works to identify root causeof manufacturing failures using structured problem solving.

  • Evaluates machine logic,electromechanical systems and process controls to troubleshoot equipment.

  • Supports design ofexperiments, validation, completion of testing and analysis of data forcontinuous improvement activities.

  • Analyzes current equipmentfor process suitability and provides detailed plans for improvement

  • Creates and revisesmanufacturing documents, specifications, standard operating procedures (SOPs), safetyinstructions, validation protocols, risk assessments, and procedures and othertechnical documents to ensure compliant, efficient and safe procedures

  • Works with other engineersand technicians in developing solutions and improvements in materials, equipmentand process as necessary

  • Actively participates inteams as necessary to ensure continual improvement, safety and compliance

  • Provides training totechnicians and operators on Standard Operating Procedures.


  • Bachelor'sdegree (BS) in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum3 years of experience in an engineering role in a manufacturing environment.

  • Familiaritywith Database software; CAD software; Development software; Internet software;Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Project Management software;Microsoft Excel software and Microsoft Word software.

  • Familiarity with a variety of material testingand measuring methods


  • Experience working in a GMP, FDA, ISO and USDAregulated environment.

  • Familiarity with statistical analysis software(Minitab).

  • Familiarity with cGMP and ISO 13485 regulationsand practices.
