Abbott Channel Development Executive in Taguig City, Philippines

Channel Development Executive for Modern Trade’s function is to assist the Channel Development Manager for Modern Trade to develop, plan and activate sales strategy founded on shopper, channel and customer insight for the company’s categories in the Modern Trade which includes Supermarket, Hypermarket, Cash & Carry and Groceries. The role also is there to assist the Channel Development Manager for Modern Trade in providing guidance and framework on the over-all point of purchase strategy for the company which includes decisions involving product assortment, distribution and availability, merchandising and planogram design for Modern Trade. The function is tasked to activate national tactics (e.g. promotions, merchandising initiatives) for field sales to execute. The role also drives sales information and Modern Trade KPI monitoring. The function is also co-accountable together with the Channel Development Manager for Modern Trade for the effective uses of all related trade retail spend for its assigned channel.

Key Areas of Accountability:

  • Accountable for the execution and implementation of the following:

  • Learning Plan for Shopper Insight per Category and per MT Channel

  • Category Channel Plan for Modern Trade

  • Point of Purchase Strategy and Merchandising Guidelines per MT Channel

  • Relevant and Timely reporting and monitoring of Trade Retail Sales KPI

  • Timely activation of channel wide national tactics for MT

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for trade promotional programs in DS Channel (includes the end to end process from creating proposals to monitoring and evaluation)

  2. Follow up and tracking of all DS Channel Activities and Programs with supporting functions like Trade Admin, Finance, Logistics, Sales - to propose ideas to maximize budget and sales and to work with Supply Chain team for any stock requirement and availability timings which will result in delivery of sales targets

  3. Work and follow up with agencies to track activities like sampling and activations as well as follow up results and provide evaluations

Secondary Responsibilities:

  1. Recommend actionable in-store solutions based on a clear understanding on shopper behavior within the DS Channel

  2. Work with the DS Trade Sales Team to define and develop appropriate key customer executions, sales and budget. Support the construction of key commercial propositions at the channel level.

  3. Input strategies and plans that deliver channel growth based on consumer, shopper and customer requirements

Job Specification

Knowledge & Experience:

  • 1-2 years of trade retail field sales experience as KAM

  • 1-2 years of relevant trade marketing experience in an FMCG context

  • College Graduate

REQUIRED Experience:

  1. Ability to handle high levels of pressure and critical decision-making

  2. Ability to listen and learn

  3. Proficient in MS Office/Nielsen

  4. Strategic thinking
