In this role, you’ll leverage your strengths in both delivering & operating financial applications, to help shape the IT Solution Strategy for the CFO Organization. Key business functions include Global Procurement, Travel and Expense, Financial Planning and Analysis, Technical Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Audit and Shared Services/Global Corporate Financial Services of accounting functions across Order to Cash, Purchase to Pay and Record to Report. Essential to your success is a strong understanding of the technology landscape supporting the financial business functions and an aptitude to drive improvements in the scalability, operability and end user experience – while ensuring the solution meets all financial, SOX, regulatory and data privacy controls.

Primary Job Function:
Responsible for managing the Data, Solutions, Business, and/or Technology architectures and tying them to the Enterprise Architecture and other architectures. For large projects with multiple systems, the enterprise architect is responsible for aligning technology solutions with business strategies, working primarily with senior management and technical specialists across functional disciplines. Coaches the application and technical specialists in the multi-system application architecture. Responsible for existing design of supported applications as well as overall Abbott application architecture. Develops the architectural governance and processes for managing the enterprise data, solutions, and/or infrastructure portfolio. Aligns the enterprise portfolio with business application needs and objectives. Consults on major systems strategies and implementations.
Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
Review customer's architecture strategy to ensure adequacy. Ensure the architecture supports the requirements of the business process. Evaluate and recommend architecture changes based on technology and business trends. Specify architecture approach and standards. Provide strategic perspective and alignment, lead governance efforts and architecture reviews, and contribute to various methodologies in use.
Provides strategic consultancy support to clients, Senior Technical Specialists and other technical architects in all aspects of enabling technologies to meet business needs. Provides expertise on architecture design or improvement. Considers the performance impact of the architecture.
Conduct investigation activity/research and give technical advice to the adoption or integration of new technologies and their business impact.
Identifies problems and issues affecting multiple areas and facilitates their resolution. Effectively anticipates and evaluates impacts of problem solutions that affect multiple areas of the organization. Leads and coordinates efforts of hardware, network and database architects in application design and implementation. Cognizant of and applies industry standard problem-solving tools and techniques appropriate to area of specialization.
Consistently suggests possible alternative approaches or points of view. Participates in determining goals and objectives for projects. Fosters the development of a common vision, providing clear direction of roles, responsibilities and priorities. Takes the risk to address difficult issues, standing firm when necessary, for the betterment of the company, department or process.
Thorough knowledge of requirements impacting the customer. Aware of industry-standard processes. Identifies opportunities to leverage/reuse solutions for multiple customers.
Participates in defining business case of investments in IT. Understands Abbott's business processes and how they affect the way systems are designed across business groups
Liaison with product vendors to lead product selection, ensuring strategic and architectural fit, and ability of product to scale to meet Abbott requirements.
Bachelors Degree plus 10+ years of related work experience with a strong understanding of specified functional area, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Degree in Computer Science or related discipline preferred. Advanced degree preferred.
At least 10 years of experience in a variety of IT roles including technical, application development, business systems, and data management. At least 3 years managing projects. Exposure to a wide variety of technologies and applications. Total combined experience of 10-14 years
