Team Leader Supply Chain Planning


In this position you will be responsible for optimized inventory levels throughout the supply chain enabling continued growth of sales, margin and market share for commercial affiliates. By leading a team of supply chain planners, the inventory levels are optimized, products are shipped cost efficiently and inventory risks are identified and act upon. All is done by using Planning tools, where parameters are optimized to support the team’s objective.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Lead a team of six Supply Chain Planners and continuously drive for improvement in customer service.

  • Drive end-to-end optimization.

  • Drive for resolution for elevated supply/demand issues, by aligning and communicating across the supply chain.

  • Drive financially based and effective decision making.

  • Create and maintain a long term roadmap for the Supply Chain Planning team aligned with Organization mission and vision.

  • Create and maintain a roadmap for the development of team members securing continuation of the team’s performance and developing and maintaining talents.

  • Lead the Supply Chain Planning team in creating a network with surrounding partners, like Manufacturing Plants, the international Process and Project Management Office, and internal departments like Master Scheduling, Distribution and Customer Operations

  • Monitor KPI-scores and, in case of exceptions, enforce root cause analyses and implementation of corrective actions.

  • Assure compliance with local, international and Abbott quality, financial and regulatory rules, policies and procedures.

  • Regular contact with multiple Abbott departments and division personnel concerning performance, issue resolution, and improvement opportunities.

  • For approximately 25%-30% of your time operational supply chain planning activities like the members of the supply chain planning team.


  • Bachelor or Master Degree (preferable) in a related field such as Logistics, Supply Chain or Production Management.

  • Extensive working experience in a related field such as Food or Pharmaceutical Industry and in an international environment.

  • A good understanding of S&OP/MRP (Material Requirement Planning)/MPS (Master Production Schedule) planning systems and business applications is vital.

  • Good SAP ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Dutch.

  • You can easily adjust to different cultures within the Abbott entities around the globe.

You have proven leadership’s qualities and experience

  • Leadership, team building and communication skills are required to provide direction and motivation to Supply Chain Planner, Master Schedulers, Customer Operations and Distribution

  • Strong network skills are required to facilitate good working relationships with manufacturing sources and other supply chain partners.

  • Strong analytical skills are critical for planning, inventory management and KPI analysis.

  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills are required to ensure timely and effective solutions to scheduling and inventory management issues internal and external customers.

  • Innovative skills and initiative are required to identify and implement business process improvements.

  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills are critical to ensure timely delivery of product and communication throughout the supply chain.
